The Duomo area constitutes the very heart of Florence and the area takes its name from Brunelleschi’s magnificent dome on the wonderful Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral. The Duomo neighbourhood offers an array of beautiful historical buildings and superb piazzas including the Mercato di San Lorenzo, the Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Repubblica, famous for its attractive cafes, patisserie shops, live music, street performers and caricature artists. Furthermore, the area is surrounded by the city’s main cultural attractions, notably Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio, the Bargello Palace and Casa Buonarroti, the former home of Michelangelo, not to mention the Uffizi Gallery and the museum dedicated to the city’s cathedral “Museo dell'Opera del Duomo”. The area also has much to offer in terms of fine dining and exclusive boutique shopping. The top Italian fashion houses are located along Via Tornabuoni, Via Calzaiuoli and Via del Corso and include the famous names of Salvatore Ferragamo, Armani, Versace, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Tiffany & Co. and many more. For those choosing an apartment in this area, the Duomo quarter also offers several food stores otherwise known as “alimentari”, supermarkets, laundrettes and individual gift shops as well as being adequately served by the local public transport service. Public transport Link for the public bus service in Florence: www.ataf.net Link for the national train network in Italy: www.trenitalia.it Parking Florence city centre is a ZTL zone which means a “limited traffic zone” and therefore special rules apply to when you can enter this area. This particular apartment is in fact located within the ZTL zone so this means that if you are thinking of coming to Florence by car and wish to drive around and park, then you will need to pay special attention to the road signs, CCTV cameras and access cameras (they will show either a red/green light) in order to avoid receiving fines. Guests who need to travel within the ZTL zone by car to reach their apartment are advised to contact one of the private garages in the centre (the one nearest the apartment you are staying in) and obtain a temporary access permit. Upon arrival at the garage, guests must specify they need access for the ZTL and the garage will then note the vehicle’s number plate and forward it to the appropriate police headquarters.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Florence in the very near future.

I lived in the Ricasoli appartment for 3 months. the difficult part comes from the stairs you have to climb on your way up and on your way down (if you have to carry luggage or shopping bags it is even worse).
The terrace however is absolutely fabulous. The location of the appartment is fabulous again, right in bewteen San Marco and the Duomo.
In the appartment you have pretty much all the equipment needed for a good stay.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are glad to know that you had a good time at the Ricasoli apartment. Unfortunately the apartment does have the inconvenience of not having an elevator due to the age of these buildings as you can read in the description but with so many lovely apartments in Florence if you were ever to return I am sure we could find you an alternative without stairs. We look forward to welcoming you back to Florence in the very near future.

Well placed and quiet. Stairs outside flat needed lighting properly and switch on landing faulty. Kitchen utensils were sparse and in good UK lets some basic items such as salt and a welcome pack provided helps on arrival.
Uncomfortable couch and seats. Hot water poor. Rating about 4/10 in living area.
I am sorry to hear you found a few problems with your stay. We will make sure the property owner is aware and will do our best to improve the accommodation and services for future rentals. Thanks Anna - Windows on Italy

The apt. is full of light, nicely decorated, and has ample space. The terrace became our favorite place to relax. The location is connvenient, and there are many shops & cafes nearby.
The kitchen was well-equipped, although I think a mixing/serving bowl or two would have made it complete.
Thanks for taking the time to write a review for us on your stay at the Ricasoli apartment. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to hear from you again soon,

This was a very convenient location and the view was fun to see the top of the duomo. Kitchen utensils/pots/coffee maker/hot pads/glasses, etc.. all very poor and cheap quality (practically useless). But the location was just what we were looking for this vacation.
