Finca del Cielo is a lovely old farmhouse restored and divided into two cottages - one of which is available to rent - to include the comforts of modern day living. Situated at the top of a winding track it enjoys stunning panoramic views over and around the embalse of Iznajar. Set on the edge of the Sierra Subetica, it is an ideal location for those seeking peace and tranquility and as a base from which to discover the many delights of Andalucia.
So, parties of up to 4 guests wishing to rent the cottage will enjoy their own private swimming pool together with two further south facing terraces. The cottage itself has two bedrooms, a shower room with toilet and wash hand basin, a kitchen and a lounge/dining area. Comfortable and well arranged, Finca del Cielo is 6 minutes drive from the small hillside town of Iznajar and has good access to the major highway networks.
The master bedroom, which overlooks the swimming pool, has a large double bed. The second bedroom has twin beds (can be converted to a double). Each bedroom is simply but comfortably furnished with a wardrobe, a chest of drawers and bedside table lamps. (During the colder months electric blankets are provided for all beds.)
The main entrance opens into the kitchen equipped with a fridge freezer, a 4-ring gas hob and a microwave oven/grill. The kitchen also has a wood burning stove for use in the winter months which heats the whole cottage (logs provided). The main entrance leads out to the pool and poolside terrace, while a second door off the kitchen leads out to two further private south facing terraces; an upper breakfast terrace with covered portico and a sun terrace overlooking the garden.
The lounge/dining room is comfortably furnished with 2 sofas, a satellite TV, a DVD player and a portable CD player. Although most of our guests tend to dine on the outside terraces during their stay, the lounge also contains a dining table with seating for 4.
Room fans (standalone and table) are provided throughout the cottage. Holiday reading books, board and card games are also provided for your use during your stay.
The 9m by 4m pool with its terrace, 6 pool loungers and shaded dining area, is exclusively for guests´ use. The shallow end is a depth of 80cm progressively increasing to a depth of 2 meters in the deep end.
In addition there are 2 further terraces; a south facing sun terrace overlooking the garden and offering fabulous views towards the village of Iznajar and its castle, and an upper breakfast terrace with covered portico.
And for anybody who enjoys barbeques, we provide you with a large gas barbeque together with gas bottle.
There is a car parking area behind the farmhouse with ample parking for cars....Read more

This cottage is a rare find in that you truly feel like guests in Jim & Sue Busby's home rather than the next set of customers. Their natural hospitality & generosity of spirit pervade the place. The location is flawlessly stunning & tranquil. The fittings & comfort level of the cottage reflect their attention to detail & genuine concern that you should feel at home & lacking nothing. The house is perfect as a retreat being some distance from any neighbours with a pool & terrace area overlooking the lake. Highly recommended.
“if you plan a cultural visit; don't go to the Finca!”

We had it all planned; this cottage had the perfect location. Right in the middle of Andalucia; Granada, Cordoba, Sevilla all the cultural cities within reach. This was to be THE cultural highlight of our year. We had chosen October so the big tourist rush would be over, the weather not too hot. The trip with our rented car to Iznajar where Jim would pick us up was easy, the one to the finca memorable. It is not just a romantic name; "Finca del Cielo". It realy was like an eagle's nest and driving up there was an adventure on it's own. We always arrived laughing! The view is spectacular, the silence stunning. We were four of us and stayed 10 days in October. We have taken all our meals outside, we swam every day, we walked up the hill and down to the lake, we read many books and we forgot all about culture. It was the most relaxing holiday ever! The finca is small and only one bedroom has real privacy. If it had rained, it would have been too crowded, but the house is surrounded with terraces, all of them overlooking the lake and we used all of them. We will have to go back, if not for the finca, than for the culture, which - so they say - should also be worth the trip

Jim and Sue Busby (and Max the dog), for us, were the ideal hosts. They were welcoming yet discreet. The weather was unseasonally warm during our stay - around 40 degrees centigrade in the middle of June - so the private pool provided a welcome relief from the searing heat, whilst at the same time offering stunning views across the surrounding hills and the lake below. The house, though small, was very clean and well-equipped. Evenings were spent eating outside on one a choice of terraces, each with its own fabulous panorama and Miro-esque artwork.
The car ride up to the house is not for the faint-hearted but you are rewarded by the views and a good degree of privacy. Provisions can be picked up in Iznajar, where there are also a small number of bars/restaurants, though the village is not walkable. A little further afield are plenty of interesting places to visit, not to mention some good walking country. Given the temperature when we were there, however, walking is something we did little of!
We were a couple and I would probably be cautious about recommending the house to groups of 4 adults off season as the living space inside the house is limited and better suited to 2, or 2 plus 2 children.
All in all, this is an excellent choice for those seeking a degree of seclusion whilst having good access to amenities. For a villa with such views and private use of a pool, it offers excellent value.

We stayed here in March for one week, and had a very nice week! It was perfect to have the choice between being active and visit several Andalusian cities, or just be lazy and stay around the house to read a book or enjoy the views from the terrace. Jim and Sue are very welcoming people, who also know a lot about the region!
