In a perfect world, you would be welcomed into a family home, owned by four generations. You would be pampered by a staff of six people as you walk on 16th century Spanish flag-stones, dine on gourmet cuisine at a table once owned by Lord Horatio Nelson and admire the many examples of antique furniture in this home.

In a perfect world you would lie on a sandy beach imagining a French Galleon, in 1795, trying unsuccessfully to invade this particular beach; listen to the old-time stories from Roy, the Butler, and sleep in a home that has welcomed many past prime ministers of the United Kingdom and the wife of one American President.

In a perfect world, you would have all your wants met including the services of a masseuse or a nanny to take care of your children while you enjoy some adult time.

In a perfect world, you would enjoy bonfires on the beach, listen to your own kind of music and roast marshmallows in the fire with your children.

In a perfect world you would have your own personal water sports director who would take you on canoe trips and assist you in exploring the surrounding beaches or arrange any boating trips that you may want.

No, the world is not perfect but it does have Villa Lido.

Villa Lido is a wonderful and luxurious beachfront villa. The home was completely refurbished in 2002 yet still retains the warmth and character of the original home and decor.

The property is situated on 4.5 beachfront acres with lush, mature vegetation. A two storey home, it features polished hardwood floors, traditionally styled four poster beds, oriental rugs and many original Jamaican art pieces.

The main floor features a comfortable living area with large French double doors that open to a spacious covered verandah. The verandah overlooks the pool and white sandy beach with the spectacular Caribbean Sea beyond. A formal dining room is filled with antiques, heirloom silver and offers ocean views as well.

The main floor also features three bedrooms to include the children's room. One of the downstairs bedrooms has a king sized bed, en-suite bath, flat screen TV and opens to a poolside terrace. The other downstairs bedroom is equipped with two double beds, en-suite bathroom and opens to a poolside terrace as well. Please note that the third main floor bedroom (or 5th bedroom of the villa) is suitable only as a children's room as it is outfitted with bunk beds, trundle beds, a computer, Nintendo and lots of games and books.

Upstairs, there are two very spacious and well appointed bedroom suites. Both of these bedrooms open directly to a spacious, covered and comfortable furnished verandah overlooking the ocean. The verandah is the perfect spot for morning coffee, savoring a novel or just gazing at the peaceful sea. The master bedroom has a king sized bed, en-suite bathroom and flat screen TV. The other upstairs bedroom has a king sized bed and en-suite bath.

All of the bedroom are air-conditioned and all feature en-suite bathrooms and TV's. The maximum occupancy of the villa is 12 but it would only be suitable for a maximum of 8 adults as the fifth bedroom is only suitable for children.

Villa Lido is fully staffed with a houseman, butler, cook, housekeeper/laundress and gardener. The staff at this memorable villa merits special attention and is the best staff on the island. Roy, the senior staff member, has been with the villa for 42 years. Madge, the cook, will delight you with her sumptuous (and fattening) meals. Indian, the butler and watersports concierge, will make sure that you have plenty of rum punches and arrange and oversee all watersports activities including arranging for jet skis and small sailboats to be brought directly the villa's beach (for additional fees).

Guests will, also, enjoy the private tennis court and extensive grounds of this special villa.

Again, no the world is not perfect but it does have Villa Lido!

I wanted to let you know how happy we were with Villa Lido and how much we liked it. I wanted to personally thank you for the referral. Villa Lido was everything you described and more. The house was beautiful and the staff is a group of very special people. We went with another family who hasn\'t experienced the villa type vacation before and they are now hooked. On the way to school the other day my five year old son said to my wife hey Mom, I don\'t like this life, I want to go back to my Jamaica life. I greatly appreciate the referral and all that you and your staff did for us to make this the best vacation ever! Thanks again!!

How do I even begin. . . we truly had a dream vacation! Villa Lido far outweighed my highest expectations. It was beautiful and we had the most restful, peaceful vacation ever. The staff, besides being unbelievably wonderful, became our friends! Madge is an awesome cook, Roy was so wonderful and sweet, Hilton never let us want for anything, Sharon made the villa sparkle (and our clothes, and we didn\'t even ask her to do our laundry!) and Cynthia took care of our injured friend (sprained ankle from horseback riding). The villa itself was beautiful and had so much history behind it. The pictures on the website don\'t do it justice. You really have to see it to get the full effect of it. We loved the beach, the sand, the warm water, the beautiful weather, the sound of the sea at night, the friendly Jamaican people, the family dinners, just everything about our week was perfect. We were going to go back to Hawaii next year, but I think we may be going back to Jamaica!!! Our driver from Karandas was wonderful. He took such good care of us. We had a huge BBQ the last night and invited all the staff and their families and our driver and his family. It was so much fun. If you ever need any recommendations or reviews for Villa Lido, I would be more than happy to provide one. Thank you so much for putting this all together for us. Hopefully we\'ll be talking to you again soon!

Villa Lido is paradise. An incredible villa set in an incredible location with a great quiet beach and calm shallow water. Roy is a real asset to the staff and the villa itself. Such a friendly warm hearted man. He took our baby for a walk everyday just at the time when the baby was getting cranky. But he cheered up as soon as he saw Roy. The cold hand towels and rum punch were a very nice touch. We are seriously considering next New years for the whole two weeks.

Our family has been to Villa Lido several times. The staff is like family and they have all treated us as royalty when we are there. The food is fabulous!! Forget your diet and expect to gain several pounds while there! From the homemade soups and Roy\'s sherry pepper, to the Jamaican specialties, everything is fresh and tasty! Villa Lido is a comfortable, yet upscale villa where you feel right at home! They provide everything, including sun hats and visors! The tennis court was redone a few years ago and is great to play on! The beach is gorgeous and is just big enough to take long stolls, yet secluded enough to feel very private! The bedrooms are lovely without being austentacious and the pictures of the whole villa and property don\'t do it justice. The grounds are fun to explore, a bird sactuary and babbling brook, including the talapia fish pond -- try to catch one and they will cook them for you! You feel like you are in your own private preserve! We haven\'t been able to get back to Villa Lido for a couple of years, and we miss it terribly! Hopefully we can return at some point soon.

I cannot begin to emphasize that this villa is so much better in person. Although the villa looked lovely from the internet, it was so much better in person. The staff is absolutely lovely---we were as sad to leave them as the villa. The beach is great and it has wonderful grounds. We have stayed at several villas in Discovery Bay and we prefered this to any of them.
