Canoe or kayak around Damariscotta Lake from this beautiful 2+ bedroom cabin in Jefferson, Maine. Enjoy the refreshing waters of this gorgeous freshwater lake in Midcoast Maine. Bring your camera as the photo ops will be many! The Baxter is a family friendly, pet friendly rustic and quaint lake cottage on the water with incredible views and water access right from your own yard! The owners have generously left their canoe and paddleboat for your use!
SO MUCH TO SEE, SO MUCH TO DO!
From your own yard you can walk right into the lake. Canoe and paddle boat can be launched from the waters edge. Swim, paddle, sail, fish, sun bath, bird watch, hike local preserves. Wake to the morning lake mist and enjoy your early morning coffee watching the sun whisk it away. Go to sleep, exhausted from the days adventures, listening to the loons.
Damariscotta Lake State Park is close by with picnic tables, a nice sandy beach and a grilling area. The largest lake in Lincoln County (over 4,000 acres!) Damariscotta Lake has excellent fishing, offers terrific kayaking and canoeing and is the home to many bird species including heron, loons, ducks and more. The Pemaquid Water Shed has miles of trails and acres of preserves throughout the area that are great to explore. There are a plethora of options for cruises, charters, whale & puffin watches and so forth to keep you busy exploring this beautiful section of mid-coast Maine. Many of the small towns in the area have unique and delicious restaurants, specialty shops, antiques, galleries, museums and so much history.
The Baxter has been in this family for over 50 years. Built by the Baxters and their friends over time, beginning in the 60’s, this lake front cottage has a large rolling lawn going down to the water where you can wade right in. The open deck faces the lake with spectacular views, the perfect spot for morning coffee or evening cocktails with table, umbrellas and chairs to enjoy! There is a fire pit in the yard for the family to gather round with s’mores and ghost stories in the evenings and a gas grill for extraordinary BBQ yumminess. You will want to bring drinking water for this cottage. What makes this camp special is the incredible surroundings and that you feel completely submerged in nature and disconnected from the ‘real world’! So come relax, unplug and rejuvenate!
The First Bedroom, located on first floor has a Double Bed.
The Second Bedroom, located on the second floor has Two Single Beds, A Queen Bed and Two Blowup Mattresses.
There is a Sleep Sofa (Double) located on the first floor in the TV room.
There is one ¾ bathroom with a shower located on the first floor.

Damariscotta (an Abenacki word meaning place of many fishes) is a quaint Midcoast town located just off Route One near the head of the Damariscotta River. Known for its colonial architecture and historical significance Damariscotta is also well known for its Shell Middens dating back some 2500 years. Be sure to walk through at least one. The Pemaquid Watershed also has miles of trails and acres of preserved land for you to explore. Unique shops, amazing restaurants and family businesses add much to the area’s activities. The Peninsula encompasses many little towns and villages, each with its own personality and offerings for you to discover and enjoy. At the end of the Pemaquid peninsula is a beach, lighthouse and park. Historical grave sites, the Rachel Carson Preserve, art galleries, restaurants, whale & puffin watches and trips to Monhegan Island are all adventures awaiting you!
