Additional Location Information

Jocotepec is an authentic Mexican village. Though just 20 minutes from the better known Ajijic, it offers a beautiful boardwalk with boat rides, charming plaza offering the famous "birria" goat stew and the equally famous Nevados de Toluca, ice cream with a wide variety of unusual and yummy flavors, artisans including weavers of rugs and ponchos, sandalmakers, and wood carvers. Since Jocotepec is located at the west end of Lake Chapala, there is easy access to the lesser know south shore villages such as San Cristobal (famous for it's baskets and corn husk figures) and San Luis Soyatlan (brooms and chairs) as well as to the more turisty villages of the north shore. A shuttle bus at the foot of my hill takes visitors into tthe village (it's also just a 15 minute walk) and larger buses travel to Chapala and Ajijic.
