Welcome to our 'Desert Sky Compound' in Joshua Tree - an Artist's Haven and Awesome Couples Refuge. Unlike a lot of the properties in Joshua Tree, the streets are paved all the way to the entrance. This spacious 1200 square foot home has high ceilings, an open floor plan, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, 2 rear patio areas plus a front porch for enjoying the view or evening breeze. This unique custom built home is located on 2.3 acres with local wildlife, Joshua Trees, landscaped walkways and dozens of unique types of cactus blooming throughout the year.
Full kitchen with 4 burner stove, oven, full size refrigerator, toaster, dishes, bowls, pots, pans and all utensils. (Olive oil, coffee maker including coffee & filters, teas, sugar, salt & pepper provided.)
100% Solar power (yet also on the “grid” for constant power), central heating, air conditioning, wood burning stove, ceiling fans. WiFi and movie DVD's and music CD's with monitor for your viewing or listening pleasure. Games, cards, backgammon. (No cable television, no phone.)
From our property atop a hill you get beautiful night village views as well as of the Southeastern Mojave Desert mountains. Two sides of the property are walled so you really feel like you are in your own private sanctuary with rabbits, quails and road runners who frequent the grounds – as well as doves, chipmunks, ground squirrels, wren, lizards, humming birds. Once the sun goes down, the property is visited by bats, occasional bobcats and owls. You will be amazed at the clear and vibrant starry skies here in Joshua Tree – the milky way is visible here along with all the other constellations.
Call it a retreat, refuge, sanctuary, oasis, getaway or hideaway – whatever word you choose will describe this beautiful vacation rental. (A second home, owner occupied, adjoins the vacation home by a soundproofed cement wall, and a 6 foot block and fence privacy wall separates the vacation home backyard, all of the guests have positively commented on the great privacy, especially with 2.3 acres.)

We're 5.6 miles from the West Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park, an 800,000 acre wilderness preserve, with groves of Joshua Trees, incredible gigantic boulders and some of the best rock climbing in the world. If you don't feel like driving, then a minutes walk up the street (900 yards) is where you'll find a trailhead (Wildlife Habitat Restoration area) to wander - climbable rocky hills, 360 degree views of Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, 29 Palms and Joshua Tree National Park.
About 2 miles from our Getaway is “Downtown” Joshua Tree which has art galleries, a yoga studio, adventure & hiking outfitter stores, a bakery, gift shops, many restaurants including great burgers and great vegan fare, even a (remarkably good) pizza parlor as well as other restaurants including Thai, a saloon and home style coffee shop. A National Park Visitors Center is located right off the main drag, so you can park there and check out the shops before you head to our backyard, Joshua Tree National Park.
Just about 40 minutes away is Palm Springs! If you do venture to Palm Springs for the day then consider going to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, Air museum or The Living Desert.
About 40 minutes away is the famous 'Giant Rock' - a large freestanding boulder in the Mojave Desert near Landers, California, that covers 5,800 square feet of ground and is seven stories high. Giant Rock is purported to be the largest free standing boulder in the world.

We did not get a chance to meet Pam but her husband John was a wonderful host! The rental had everything we needed to make for a very comfortable stay. We had everything available to cook and dine at the rental. John and Pam had a list of grocery stores that were nearby also including sites to see and explore with directions. We hiked in Joshua Tree National Park for the duration of our stay. After a full day of hiking and exploring while driving out of the park we noticed a group of rock climbers within view along the road. We pulled over and watched their ascend and descend of a huge rock formation. Where we are from you just do not see that! Very cool to watch the technique of rock climbing with adoration of the brave souls that enjoy that sport! A big thank you to both John and Pam for the hospitality! Highly recommend!

This rental was clean, airy and a great place to relax after a fun day scrambling on the rocks with my husband and 13 year old son. The owners are right next door and very accommodating. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need including complimentary coffee and tea. There is no grill, so we brought a little hibachi. We enjoyed warming up next to the wood stove after dinner and playing a spirited game of Monopoly. (Classic board games are stacked in the closet). Our favorite characteristic of the rental was the height of the counters, sinks and shower. We never had to stoop. It is a rare delight for taller people! Our least favorite characteristic was that there was only a small partition
in the backyard separating the rental from the owners house, making it not
feel so private. Overall, it was a greats stay! The owners are lovely. Read more
Thank you. We now provide a standing charcoal barbecue grill and the "partition" on the patio off of the kitchen is now 6 feet tall, custom built with a combination of block wall and doubled offset wood fencing. To our delight, we've gotten only compliments about the privacy (and quiet).

My boyfriend picked out this place and I was reluctant because it was my first "vacation rental by owner" but it was fantastic. Like a ritzy resort hotel but way better because it was much bigger, had a full kitchen, much more personal with books and videos and nice artwork. And it's bigger than my apartment. We visited the nearby park and checked out the band at the local "Saloon" and enjoyed the rental so much we ordered a pizza to go and just chilled inside, watching videos. Cute pathways and rock designs in the yard, and sitting areas. We loved it!

This rental was perfect for my wife, daughter and myself to visit the area of Joshua tree. The house is very nice and super close to joshua tree national park. Pamela provides excellent accommodations that no hotel or other rental could match in the nearby areas. Rent here, you wont be disappointed. We will definitely return next year.

House was spacious, clean, cozy and very well accommodated. We received a welcome packet upon arrival that explained everything and where the best restaurants were. My wife and I booked three nights for hiking around Joshua Tree over the Thanksgiving break and we had a blast. We took Pam and John's advice and hit the Palm Springs Tram and hiked up on San Jacinto in the snow which was the highlight of our trip. Joshua Tree is hard to beat, but going from two days of hiking in the desert to the snow and back to desert was awesome. It was also nice to have a home base so close the park and away from the hotels. We kept referring to the rental as "Home" when we were wrapping up the day which sort of explains exactly how it felt to us. Very lovely, quiet and it just felt like home. We'll be back.

This was my first time to Joshua Tree for my partner and I and we were so glad we didn't stay at a regular hotel. This vacation rental is huge, with high ceilings, so we felt like we were at an expensive resort and it was very relaxing. I liked hanging out on the back patio too, where there is a park bench as well as table and chairs and with the block wall it really felt private.
We walked the neighborhood which is private and serene, just gorgeous.
The National Park is just minutes away and local shops and restaurants are many.

I've stayed at many resorts while on vacation. I decided to try this privately-owned residence on my trip to the desert. What a pleasant surprise! I could get to Palm Springs quickly for dinner, golf, etc., but had the solitude to just simply relax and totally check out the rest of the time. Close to some great hiking trails!
I'm pretty picky about cleanliness and tidiness. This place met and exceeded my expectations.
I'll definitely go back next time I'm headed to the desert.

Really enjoyed our stay in Joshua Tree.
The space is airy and open with private drive and outdoor space. Well appointed and very clean. Amazing scenery and convenient to National Park and other activities. Palm Springs is close enough to enjoy some attractions there and then retreat back to the peace and tranquility of Joshua Tree. Would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here twice for a week each, and while I was not in Joshua Tree for a vacation, having this as my home base made the trips feel more like an escape. The owners are gracious hosts, and eager to share what Joshua Tree has to offer - they clearly love living here. I just loved watching the quail families each morning while sipping coffee! And the hikes were breath-taking! I'll be back!
The property was comfortable, clean, well maintained, spacious w

I enjoyed the property. Heard the calls of coyotes at night which I enjoyed. Saw rabbits and groups of quail on the premises. The weather was fabulous. Joshua national park was 15 minutes drive and a fantastic park. I went hiking on trails just a short distance up the road.
