Description from owner

Description

The cottage "La Distillerie" is located at the place called "Maine des Rois" in the town of Juillac-le-Coq, in the heart of the Grande Champagne Cognac. It is an independent house of 50m2 for 2/4 people. The cottage was created in 2011 in the old distillery of the property. It is located in a large garden, on the edge of the village of Juillac-le-Coq, a small village of 670 inhabitants. The cottage has been fully furnished in the style of Charente with antique furniture on flea markets, which gives it a very soft atmosphere. It consists of a large living room with open kitchen, dining and living room, a bedroom and a bathroom with walk-in shower and toilet. The equipment of the cottage is very complete in terms of household appliances and kitchen utensils to allow tenants to feel at home and to cook easily. There is a round table to accommodate 6 people (possibility to receive friends), a large selection of dishes to make nice tables for meals! In the living room there is a very comfortable BZ type sofa that can be used as sleeping for 2 people. The cottage is ideal for 2 people but also suitable for 4 people thanks to this sofa. The bedroom contains 1 bed 140x190cm and a superb wardrobe for storing clothes. The living room opens with 2 French windows on a wooden terrace facing south. On the terrace are a table and chairs, chiliennes, a parasol and a classic barbecue charcoal. The house is completely non-smoking and we thank our tenants for smoking outside. There is a private parking space inside the fully enclosed garden. The cottage is ideally located to discover the Grande Champagne Cognac and the Charente in general! We gladly accompany our tenants for tastings of cognac and pineau at winegrowers' friends' and local artisans' meetings. We make every effort to receive our guests in the best possible conditions. You will find in the house small touches that will make your life easier, such as the supply of products for the dishwasher or the washing machine, products for the dishes or the cleaning as well as the tea towels. Similarly, in Maine kings, coffee, filters and some Senseo pods are provided. Do not forget the kids at Maine Des Rois! For toddlers, an umbrella bed with its mattress, sheets and blanket and a high chair are available on request. Children will find some toys in the toy box and can also ride on the small bike or small tractor, safely in the garden!

“A good place to stay, quiet and relaxing”

Reviewed 25 Sep 2018

The owners were there to greet us and take us through the facilities offered. Very clean and confortable. A well-equipped holiday rental with everything there that we needed. Lovely quiet spot with view of the church and village. Near to small towns and villages, which allowed us to shop and enjoy the French atmosphere. Not at all touristy. THis is what we wanted.

“Great gîte in Cognac country.”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2017

We stayed in this lovely gîte for two weeks in July 2017. It is even better than the website photos and is very well located, in a friendly village not far from Cognac. We enjoyed the local hikes through the vineyards and fields of sunflowers - right on the doorstep. We could not have asked for a warmer welcome than the one we received from Jacqueline and Jean-Michel. Their introduction to cognac tasting was very special indeed. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer.
