Askan Erämajat

Our B&B; is situated on the lakeside of Lake Valkeainen, a well lake with potable water in the wilderness region of northern Kainuu on the southern border of Lapland. Our community is located amongst high hills which are partly nature sanctuaries. There are crystal clear lakes like our lake, numerous ponds and rivers and the highest waterfall of FInland is also in our vincinity.

We are members of ECEAT, European Centre for Ecological Agriculture and Tourism since 2008 and we have got the ECEAT Certificate ever since. Our concept is absolutely sustainable and organic: all waste is recycled. We don't use pesticides in gardening.

Additional Location Information

Located in the northern wilderness region of Kainuu on the lake Valkeainen. We are surrounded by vast forests, hills and moors. The nature of our region is the purest in Finland. We have a yard of 4 hectars with old pine and birch trees. At the lakeside just next to the lodge ( 20 meters ) there is a wood-heated sauna and a smoke sauna. Wild berries and delicate mushrooms ( e.g. Boletus edulis) grow on our grounds.

Any kind of organic activities are offered, e.g. nature and bird watching, hiking, camping, mountain biking, fishing, all kind of watersports. On our yard there is a big playground fro children and the lake suits well fro swimming as the water is POTABLE in our well lake Valkeainen(controlled every year!). All our water comes from a big natural well.
Car parking is by the lodge, a big parking even for a convoy!
Access to us by car, bike, bicycling along the main road and bus. Please see oru website (website: hidden)
