It was a nice place needs little up dating and maybe a good detail. But over all it was nice. We had a problem with the washer and the managing manager handled the problem quickly. We where very satisfied with the quick response.
Kauai was amazing, no words can describe the beauty of it.

We had a wonderful time in Kauai. The unit was clean, had everything there to use in kitchen and bathroom, and poolside. The washer/dryer was convenient for laundry. The view was wonderful and the ocean breeze was refreshing throughout the apartment. It was centrally located on the island to drive to northern and southern shores plus could walk across the street for shopping, etc. Maintenance was handled in a timely manner and everyone was pleasant. Definitely will refer to friends and family.

If you are seeking a luxury condo, this isn't it. If you are looking for an inexpensive, quality, clean, convenient condo suitable for a couple, or a small family whose kids can sleep on a pull-out couch, this is great for you! We had no problems checking into Kapaa Shore. Our condo was impressively clean, more so than some hotels I've stayed at. Yes, some of the decor is dated, but it is apparent the owner replaces furniture when needed - and the couch looked new! This condo has everything you need, plus opening the bedroom closet to find beach chairs, boogie boards, and mats was a real plus! There is ample parking. Our neighbors were quiet - we didn't have any problems leaving the windows open - I think being an end unit helped too. The view from this condo is nice - you get a beach view and pool view. The beach is not swimable because it is coral, but a 5 minute walk takes you to a public beach. Kapaa Shore is also at the start of a 4 mile bike/pedestrian only path which was a real treat. You are within walking distance to restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. Pizza Hut and Taco Bell are right across the street - don't knock it when you are exhausted and just want a pizza! We did have an issue with the washer not draining, but we walked next door to the property management company and maintenance was in our unit and fixed the problem that day! I was very impressed by their friendliness and customer service. This is an excellent location if you are planning on visiting all the sights in Kauai because you are centrally located. I recommend this condo to the average couple or small family looking for a clean, budget friendly alternative to a hotel.

We enjoyed the condo #227 at Kapaa Shore Resort. It wasn't "marble counter tops and fancy appliances" but it had everything we needed in it. Very nice to have the W/D unit in the apartment! Location is great.

We have been at this great resort many times because of the location & friendly property managers. We've stayed in different 2 bedroom condos in bldg B. This time we were in a 1 bedroom condo in bldg C. We didn't realize the 1 bedrooms don't all have a washer/dryer. This one did, thankfully. It's good condo if you don't mind the noise of kids in the pool and in the hot tub below. We probably would try a condo in bldg a the next time.

This was one of the nicest condos I have stayed in. Not new but felt like "home." I am in Kauai 3-4 times a year; my children live there. I will certainly try to stay in this unit again. Clean, comfortable and only 3 miles from my kids.

We chose this resort because friends were staying there. In comparing notes later, we discovered that we were paying 3X per night more for our unit than our friends were paying for their unit. We were only staying 3 nights vs our friends 2 weeks which might account for some of that difference. Either way we paid way to much for an outdated unit with no swimming beach or air conditioning. Unit in general needs a good deep cleaning. Not enough tp and no office to get more. Check in/out was perfect. We asked to extend check out for 2 hours no problem. Beautiful well maintained grounds. Poor value in comparison to another resort we stayed at for one week on Kaua'i. Read more
Aloha and mahalo for your review. We do have a 5 night minimum stay; but to accomodate your party, we did allow the 3 ngiht stay; thus paying a higher daily rate. Housekeeping was also advised of your comments. Kapaa Shore Resort is a small, intimate property on the beach (84 units with full kitchens ) and is very different to a large 800 plus unit resort hotel/time share property. We are glad you enjoyed the beautiful grounds.
July 2011 update: We have a new queen size bed and new queen size sofa/sleeper that are both very comfy! Still a favorite condo for many!

A great vacation. Beautiful view and great whale sightings from Lanai. Centrally located so good base for seeing the island. Older facility but well maintained and clean. Can't beat the price. We plan on repeated the stay again next year.

We were very pleased with our condo at Kapaa Shores, the location was perfect and our condo had everything we needed. The grounds were beautiful-pool/hot tub very clean. Check in and check out were a breeze. We did not want to leave and hope to come back soon.

We had a wonderful time on Kauai. Watching the sun rise was spectacular and we loved hearing the ocean roar right outside our windows. Even thought we had some rain during our stay, we were able to 'follow the sun' and find it shining somewhere. What a paradise! We won't be waiting 10 years again to come back to Kauai!

Good location for exploration of Kauai!

The condo is lovely and the location at the end of the building, close to the water is perfect. You could hear the waves crashing and had good breezes in the condo day and night. We enjoyed our meals on the lanai and the Bbqs were easy to access for cooking. The kitchen is also well supplied.
Our only hestation about the facility is that most of the other units are time share units and the private rentals did not qualify for much support from the front desk. We were directed to contact Garden Properties for any issues and they were closed the two times we wanted assistance. Also, while we paid a cleaning fee for our departure, we felt the cleanliness/service could be improved for our use. For example, there was dust on all the table tops, hair in the bathroom and insufficient toilet paper for a ten day rental.
However, it was a nice place to stay! Read more
aloha and mahalo for your review. Kapaa Shore Resort is definitely a great location with ocean waves and breezes. Our office is closed on the weekends; but we do have an emergency # for next time. Housekeeper has also been reminded as well. Glad you had a nice time; as this unit is a favorite of many as well as the property itself which is also recommended in Frommers! We do hope you'll be able to return to Kaua`i someday soon! aloha~Garden Island Properties

Condo location is deceiving

The best thing about this unit is the constant sound of the ocean waves. Other that the great location, the unit was dirty, dirty and dirty. Even though we removed our shoes each day as we entered the unit, out feet became very dirty due to the vinyl flooring not being clean. I think someone needs to clean the floors with a bucket of clean sudsy water. The floor felt gummy to our bare feet and you could see the dirt come off your feet when you showered. The bathtub and shower walls have not been cleaned in many, many months and when using the shower the water lost all its pressure and you could barely rinse your hair.
Then there is the kitchen! It has not been updated in thirty-forty years. When you opened up the drawers & cabinets, a strong dirty, musty smell emerged. The insides of the drawers & cabinets felt tacky and greasy and smelled bad. We washed most of the glasses, tableware, bowls and plates before we used them to get rid of the smell. I understand that a condo with no air conditioning, near the ocean might get a little damp, but the chain that held up the light over the table had rust and and dirt hanging from each link.
As old a condo-227 that this is, it could definitely benefit from some newer appliances--especially a working toaster, newer cabinets, and an inside through cleaning, not dusting. The turn-slat windows could also be cleaned or replaced with something that works better.
Other than the oceanfront location, and the in unit laundry, I would not recommend this condo unit-227 to friends or family. Read more
Aloha and thank you for taking the time to review your stay. We are glad you enjoyed the great location; but sorry to hear about the other issues. We would have been more than happy to take care of as many items as we could during your stay; rather than having you mention these things after you've departed. The salt from the ocean is not very kind to these units and upkeep is constant. We thank you again for your review and we will be taking a look at your concerns. We do have many repeat guests who love this unit and are sorry again of your particular encounters, Mahalo, Garden Island Properties

The condo was clean and in an excellent location for both enjoying the ocean and traveling to different parts of the island. Althought the weather was not the greatest for the first couple of dyas we did not let that stop us from enjoying our stay.

This is the fourth time we stay at the property managed by Garden Island properties, with an effeicient management of Greg & Sue. As for the units, they are well maintained, very centraly located with an easy access to the air-port and to the super markets, for the people who don't drive, this location is very ideal and convenient to move around and get things done with ease and pleasure.
On the whole the stay at this property makes the entire stay more pleasant and enjoyable, there are many more trips to enjoy the Kauai and the Hawaiian beauty and splendor.

Wonderful week. Very nice 1 BR unit overlooking the pool. Lanai/balcony was a pleasant place for morning coffee or lunch. I would rent this unit again if I return to Kuaui. And kapaa is nicely situated for going to Poipu or the Princeville area.
Nice view, good location, needed updating and a deep cleaning

The view was great and the location was wonderful for walking and finding close restaurants and shopping. The unit's kitchen needs a makeover badly. The stove was a greasy mess and we brought it to the attention of the management but to no avail. We cleaned it ourselves. For the price we did fine.
