Perhaps you imagined serene peaceful landscapes. Perhaps you thought it were private tranquil moments with your loved ones. Perhaps you thought it was ‘me’ time in undisturbed ambience.
Those who visited us reflect so. We speak from a family owned estate, a place we often visit for relaxation and comforting moments. A chance interaction led us to offer our estate to like-minded families, wanting to feel at home in a home in the hills.
About the estate:
Ours is an exclusive private property, whose vantage points offer ever-stretching views of the sub-Himalayan mountain ranges. A quiet place, with an ‘old world’ charm, the estate offers you a private setting to deepen your family bonds. The fresh pine fragrance, tranquil, crisp and clean air makes the space frequently visited by a range of en-route migratory and local birds.
Since this is also our second home, the upkeep and amenities are complete and hygienic as would be in any well to do home. Should you expect the frills of a commercial property, perhaps this estate might not be the right place for you. We only charge enough to make sure the estate is maintained well while earning a very nominal profit. Whether you book one room or all the rooms at either of the levels, we do not cross book the remaining rooms, at the level, with other guests. We lend the space privately, and hence are available at an affordable premium.
What can you expect to do here, and what is it that the place can be best avoided for:
If you are fond of the hills and treasure the quiet with not much to do save spending time with your loved ones, this is the ideal place for you. You could play TT in the estate, read a book on a hammock or a swing (whichever is then available), go for long undisturbed walks on very navigable mountain trails offering their windflower blooms. You could listen (complimentary) to the owners Ghulam Ali collection or watch the dimly lit night sky. If you are a shutter bug, you could click beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and should you be even more patient then wait upon our avian visitors to get that perfect wildlife shot.
This is the place for the creative, quiet and peaceful souls. The place is visited by creators, writers, photographer and spiritual healers. If you love loud music, love partying, addicted to activity, then the estate is an incredibly wrong place for you to be at. If frequent power outages are not considered opportunity to be more in alignment with the nature, then this place may offer you an instance or two of discomfort.
Who else visit us?
Big families looking for a place to spend their holidays with children occupied in indoor or outdoor games, but within the estate, are our regular guests. Young couples getting together to make some memories and enjoy the lawns privately keep coming back to us.
So, come over! Enjoy your moment of peace at our place. Borrow a book from our shelves; get engrossed with a steaming cup of coffee, and do NOTHING!

We travelled with a large group for a period of 3 nights end of December. Access to Homestead Villa was quite easy with direct train from Delhi to Kalka, and then a cab ride of 1 hour to the Villa. The villa is beautifully located on top of a hill, excellent view of snow capped mountains. There is a cook on hire wh cooks for you whatever you want to eat. The rooms were neat and clean and adequately heated in the bitter cold. Also being close to the Heritage market you could always take a walk during the day. By and large it is great fun if you are travelling with a group.

We had a wonderful time at your lovely cottage. Our stay was comfortable and truly enjoyable. We found everything one needs in the kitchen and lots of games too. Lovely view from the windows and the lawn. The silence there is broken only by the chirping of birds. Lots of beautiful flowers in bloom. Hope to go there again in the winters. Read more

We were a group of 12 people who participated in a holistic healing retreat at Homestead. This was our second year of retreat in this same place. The experience was fantastic and right from the view of the valley, the weather, the food, the staff courtesy and the accommodation, everything was the best possible. The staff was extremely cooperative and warm. The view from Homestead is out of the works and was an amazing environment to connect with self and also do some photography. The location of the home is very convenient with close access to all basic needs. We really appreciate the extra care taken by Shikha to help us have a more serene excercises and having taken care of our special needs for the same. Each time the experience gets better. Thanks guys! Read more

Really, it feels as if you own it. No one bothering you or checking on you, yet the caretaker was always available. We loved the games we played sitting in the living room and the valley view from the garden was just amazing. We were lucky to see snow and it was just the most beautiful place on earth. Ask for the paratha's at Homestead and delicious chai.
Suggestion - More options in breakfast for long stays!!
We look forward to welcome you all to Homestead again .

I am from gurgaon and after many years of doing the usual Simla,Mussorie, Dharamsala ..we now wanted a real untouched hill station with all the beauty intact .
This cottage is in main Kasauli which is untouched since its in cantonement area. The view is just Funtastic . Much better than the pictures from the terrace and during different times of the day . The property is clean and very well maintained . The landscaping is beautiful . The caretaker is very good and we felt at home instantly .
The price is as much as really average hotels . A well maintained private property at this price is just what I would want .

What most striking about the cottage are the views of the valley! I would be hard pressed to find another location which is as conveniently located to a big city like Chandigarh and yet offers an escape to a completely different place both visually and spiritually! The cottage itself caters to the needs of all from different age groups and with varying interests. If you are looking to indulge over a glass of wine by the bonfire listening to Jazz or playing some table tennis ...it offers you all the ingredients to plan a perfect vacation!
"Great location , magnificent views , good price ,, clean and awe"

We went for a spiritual retreat to the homestead resort in kasauli. We stayed for 8 days and it was definitely the most amazing experience. The scenic environment, the nice food and the affectionate hospitality helped enhance the cosmic connection. The owner Shikha personally visited us and she was extremely thoughtful and sweet. I would most definitely recommend this resort to all those who'd like to visit kasauli. To add , the bonus is the view of the Himalayan ranges and the awesome pictures right from the resort! If a homely environment, good ambiance, genuine people, peace and tranquility resonate with you, this is a good place to be. Home is the operative word -- this is not about luxury as much as it is about "being at home" in a picturesque place. Kasauli may offer many more bargain-deals yet this is a place that affords much more with a reasonably priced space.

I stayed there with husband and few friends. Had a wonderful time... nicely done clean rooms, Great food, all home-made and customised as per the guest's choice which I think was a great hospitality gesture when travelling with family and loved ones... Absolutely loved it! Worth every penny ;) perfect location, very quiet away from the hustle & bustle of the city, great views of hills around, you can enjoy going on nature walks, reading, or just sit out and enjoy the beautiful nature, will definitely come back...

Our stay at Homestead was wonderful. I went there with some friends and we were looking for a relaxed vacation. Homestead was just the place. The cottage was very well maintained. The caretaker was also very generous. The cottage provides a very beautiful view. I would definitely recommended Homestead as must place to to stay while you are on a vacation to Kasauli. The location is also very good.

We stayed for 3 days at Homestead Villas.
The villa is located on a side road just beyond the main Kasuali village and is hard to locate at first (no sign board) but the caretaker Yeshwant will guide you if you call. By the same token it is quiet and secluded.
There is parking available for at least a couple of cars and stay for drivers as well.
The villa itself is a 3 bedroom+dining+living room property charmingly done up - which is ideal for a group of 6 or a family. The kitchen is equipped with utensils, crockery, cutlery and the like and can be used to cook your own meals if you choose to do so yourself, or take a cook along (though you will need to pick up your ingredients). If not, it is walking distance to Hotel Ros Common which is the Hptdc property that has yummy Indian food and a lovely garden setting. However we preferrred to pick up dinner and re-heat rahter than head out late. There are other restaurants in the area as well. And Yashwantji can whip up some yummy paranthas and chai in the morning. The villa itself is very charming, extremely clean, well maintained with a fabulous view of the valley. There is a lawn in front where you can enjoy a peaceful cuppa in the morning/evenings - it can also be the perfect site for a barbeque. The living room has full length windows which afford the view of the lawn and valley beyond. The bedrooms are quite large, comfortable and the first one (where we stayed) has the same view as the drawing room.
The roads around are untouched by the hands of time and you can spend many an hour walking along enchanting pathways flanked by old timey bungalows.
All in all makes for an idyllic getaway from urban chaos.

Homestead Villa is a an excellent place for anyone who wishes to enjoy a leisurely vacation in the comfort of a neat, clean, homely environment. The cottage is very well maintained and equipped with all basic amenities, along with home-cooked meals of your choice.
The view, over-looking the valley, is breath-taking. The lush-green lawn and flower-beds are a treat. Barbeque on the lawns is a bonus. Located close to the Mall, everything is readily available in close vicinity.
All-in-all a wonderful place to stay with family and friends.

Our favorite holiday location and stay. We've been here before and will return repeatedly because we have enjoyed our stay. Never a moment of compromise or regret. A peaceful and comforting place, with all the basic amenities. The warmth of the people you deal with from the booking to the stay is incentive enough to return.
Look forward to many more memorable vacations here.

I told my friends that the moment I got home I would write a review. If you are looking for 1) Good Value 2) cleaner than clean 3) Friendly, accommodating staff the this is the place for you!! We stayed for 3 nights and everything worked, the service was impeccable, check-in and check-out were smooth as a whistle. If I had to say one small detail more as an FYI rather than a complaint, it would be that the things are just a wee bit dated. Basically, it's not brand spankin' new. But, the Cottage more than makes up for that with charm, kindness and cleanliness.
Friends, if you are lookin' for a spectacular deal and a wonderful stay while in Kasauli, do not pass go! Stay at this place and feel close to heaven...
