The Kaya Cottages are two unique, authentic Turkish farm cottages in the idyllic rural village of Kayakoy.
The beautifully tiled raised pool area overlooks the picturesque Kaya Valley and surrounding mountains and pine forest . Each cottage has a private seating area and the property is surrounded by gardens and a rustic stone wall.
Kaya is one of the rare places where you will truly find the unspoilt side of Turkey and experience real Turkish culture and Village life. It is the perfect place to relax or to explore.
Visit the ruins of a Greek town dating back to Lycian and Roman times, find a hidden Monastery overlooking the Mediterranean, sample Turkish Wine, Cuisine and Hospitality at nearby family owned restaurants or swim and chat with Turkish locals at Gemiler Beach.
Kaya Village remains unspoilt by the mass tourism yet is easily accessible from Dalaman Airport (1hr transfer) and Fethiye Town (10km)
Kaya Village is located around the historic ruins of Levissi. Nearly 2000 ruins lie nestled against the hillside, forming an open-air museum often reffered to as the Ghost Town. Levissi was abandoned following a population exchange between Greece and Turkey in the early 1920s. Exploring the site via worn pathways weaving between houses and churches is a wonderful experience.
The ruins of Levissi were the inspiration for the Louis De Bernieres novel Birds Without Wings.
Birds Without Wings begins in the early 1900s in an idyllic town in South West Anatolia during the declining years of the Ottoman Empire. It retells the tale of one small community in which Christian and Muslim lives and traditions have co-existed peacefully over the centuries and in which friendship, even love, can transcend religious differences.
The Stables is a lovely one bedroom stone cottage with tiled floors throughout, whitewashed walls and wooden beamed ceilings. This Cottage is where the owner always stays and she loves its charm and character and strongly recommends it for couples to stay.
There is a large terrace area at the front of the Cottage with gardens surrounding and large umbrella for shade as well as seating for dining and relaxing. A wall provides privacy but does not affect the stunning views of opposite mountains.
As you enter the Stables you have a small but fully equipped galley style kitchen. To the left is an open plan cosy sitting room with dining table, and single divan bed with lots of cushions that doubles as sofa. There is a fireplace similar to those still used for cooking in the villages houses. CD player and a large collection of books are for guests use.
The double bedroom has built in wooden cupboard and lovely decorative fireplace. It is Air-conditioned for comfort during the summer months.
The good sized bathroom is finished with pretty blue and white hand painted tiles and has shower, basin and toilet.
The Stables Cottage sleeps up to 3 people and is ideal for couples.TripAdvisor property ID 2070657...Read more

Having been to Olu Deniz two years ago we wanted to stay in Kayakoy/Kinali to escape the commercialisation and also to plan our wedding in the village for 2011.
Clare who owns the cottages was so helpful before we even arrived, looking into options for the venue for our wedding for us. On arrival I felt like I already knew Clare and were given a warm welcome from her.
The cottage (The Stables) exceeded our expectations. It was the perfect size, traditional Turkish and absolutely spotless. What's more the location was amazing, so quiet and private. The plunge pool is a really relaxing space with a fantastic view of the ghost village. Overall it was totally idyllic. Perfect rural retreat away from it all. The local neighbours and owners of the Kinali restaurant also made us feel very welcome, in fact we started to feel like part of the village.
Clare is so lovely and the perfect host, delivering a welcome pack on arrival and visiting each day to make sure we were OK and offer advice for the area and our wedding ideas. In fact Clare was generous enough to give us a lift to Kabak where we had booked to spend one night.
My parents joined us halfway through the holiday staying in The Smokehouse and Clare arranged the most brilliant boat tour for us with Captain Ibor!
The Ghost Village is a good 20 minute walk which was no problem for us and don't let it put you off as the dolmus stop is right opposite the cottages.
All in all I can't recommend these cottages enough, in fact we've already reserved them for next year when we come to get married in Kayakoy.
Big thanks to Clare for helping make our holiday so great.

Not only are The Stables sensitively refurbished, but there is a wonderfully relaxing feel about the place. Staying here makes you feel part of the community and Claire is the most helpful 'hostess' ever. Her thoughtfulness ensures that every guest gets exactly what they need out of their stay. We have had 2 absolutely brilliant holidays there. The beaches, the scenery, the walks - they're amazing, and we definitely want t return again soon.
