We thouroughly enjoyed out stay in the Lake District and made Kendal our base. The accommodation was very comfortable with all mod cons and we were greeted very warmly by the tennants. They even left us milk, chocolate and crisps which was a really nice touch. Lots to do in the area and the cottage is a 10 min walk into Kendal town centre.

We really enjoyed our week in airthwaite and will be thinking of coming back next year. It was just the right size for us. Our son Joshua loved running around and making the place home for the week, and my wife and I said it was just right. For older kids or more kids it would be slightly too small with just the one bedroom, but for a couple with one 21month old, it was perfect. It's also bigger than it looks on the website. We stayed at airethwaite for a long weekend from the 1st of march. Arrived at 4pm on Friday and were greeted by the landlady who showed is round. The apartment is lovely, well kept and very clean. It has everything you could need for a short stay and the owners had even left us milk, bacon and eggs in the fridge which was a lovely surprise!
The apartment is well located next to Kendal Green and only a 5min walk from Kendal town centre. Don't be put off by the fact Kendal isn't technically in the lake district! It is only a short drive from heart of the lakes and is a nice little town, the castle is worth visit, especially for the views from the top of the hill!
I would deffinately recommend airethwaite and Kendal!

On arrival we were greeted by the very friendly owners and shown our apartment for the weekend. The apartment is located 3-4 minutes walk from restaurants and pubs of Kendal and 10 minutes drive from windermere. The owners go the extra mile and left us bread, milk, a packet of biscuits and crisps in a very well equipped kitchen for self catering.
The lounge was very cosy with a comfortable sofa and tv with DVD player.
The bedroom had ample storage and a comfortable bed with an en suite bath/shower room.
We spent a lovely evening at a little bistro 5 minutes walk away in Kendal where the food was excellent and great value ( i forget the name but the owners will tell if you ask!). We also spent a morning at treetop trek at Brockhole on windermere which was great fun.
On the day of leaving it was my partners birthday and the owners had left her a card and chocolates which was a very kind gesture!
Overall this apartment and its location is great for couples looking for romantic weekend, those looking for an outdoors weekend or a bit of both! The owners are lovely, friendly people.
Will definitely be recommending to friends and family and may return again in future!
