Juniper 420 – “Terra” – Grand Lodge with Boulder Mountain Views
Description from the manager
Experience the rugged beauty of the west from Terra; a 5,800 square foot log lodge set on 5 acres designed by James Ruscitto, noted architect of the Sun Valley lodges. Terra uniquely combines expansive Boulder mountain views and privacy with close access to ski slopes and restaurants. The home is filled with art, artifacts, books and DVDs - all carefully assembled to provide a retreat which reflects the beauty and history of the West while surrounding you in luxurious comfort. The natural building materials and furnishings create a mountain home in harmony with its surroundings. Set up a private drive, Terra has magical views from all rooms of mountains, foothills, sagebrush, willows and aspens.
Terra is constructed out of massive logs from British Columbia and the hardwood floors in the living and dining rooms are from a Pennsylvania farmhouse. Interior rooms are large scale, however the organic nature of the building materials, indigenous art and furnishings provide a serene and cozy backdrop for your visit. WIFI is accessed throughout the house.
The living room has a two-story cathedral ceiling with floor-to-ceiling windows that look across the valley with spectacular views of the Boulder Mountains. There is a rock wall fireplace made with local stones, a wet-bar and French doors which open up to the outdoor living space. There is ample seating for gatherings around the fireplace with an inlaid chess set from Granada, Spain. There is an extensive collection of books with insights on art, travel and western and regional history and culture. The outdoor off-living room patio area provides a special summertime gathering spot with a variety of seating choices.
Directly off the living room is a media room with custom mesquite and leather seating, salon-style black and white photos and antique furniture. There is a collection of DVDs for your use which ranges from Academy Award winning films to children and family-oriented entertainment.
The kitchen is designed for culinary exploration - it has a 6 burner stove, 2 ovens, a microwave, and a wide variety of pans, cooking utensils, serving and glass ware. There is a breakfast nook which also houses a diverse selection of cookbooks and a cabinet with a collection of family board games.
Seating for 8 is provided in the dining room on hand-tooled leather and mesquite chairs set around a rugged, antique table made from reclaimed wood from a Mexican cathedral. The room is further enhanced with original artwork and a wine cellar.
An outside patio off of the kitchen has seating for 10 around a large teak table, a BBQ and a fire pit. The location, with late afternoon/evening shade, is a wonderful setting to start your evening of al-fresco dining under the stars.
The Boulder View Master Bedroom Suite has a cathedral ceiling, a rock wall fireplace with rocks quarried locally, a four-poster king iron bed with Frette linens, a fireside sitting area with oversized chairs, a chaise lounge for reading, a ceiling fan, a wood console with books, artifacts and a built-in TV and a hand-carved desk. The en-suite master bath is spacious and has an enclosed steam shower, two sinks, a jacuzzi tub, and separate toilet and bidet. In keeping with the home’s celebration of the connections between nature and art, there is an original Aboriginal painting which depicts the creation of the Milky Way.
The Sky Master Bedroom Suite has dramatic windows with sky and mountain views, a king bed with 700 thread Egyptian cotton sheets, antique furniture, a ceiling fan, a sitting area with cozy wingback armchairs and an en-suite bathroom which has a combination bathtub/shower.
The Audubon Suite has 2 queen beds with luxurious, comfortable linens, a ceiling fan, oversized white denim lounging chairs and Audubon prints. Large windows connect the room with mountain views. The en-suite bathroom is in two sections with a sink/vanity area and a separate room for the bathtub/shower and toilet.
The Bunk Suite is in a separate wing from the other three suites with it’s own private staircase. Before entering the suite there is an open game room with a 14-foot shuffleboard. The Bunk Suite has a combo double/twin bunk bed and two twin beds. It also has a large desk which can be setup with a TV/DVD player combo. The room also has a full range of children’s books.
