Everybody knows it's all about location: in this case, a dream vacation location in the heart of Old Town Key West. Duval Street Suite is a two-bedroom, two-full-bath townhouse in a small rooftop community overlooking the island's main artery for fun and entertainment.
From your private and expansive Bahamian-style wraparound balcony, you can sit back in a comfortable Adirondack chair, enjoy a beverage, and take in the day or evening scene below. Duval Street hosts colorful parades, conch train tours, pedicabs, locals, tourists, the rich and famous, kids headed for ice cream at Flamingo Crossing, and sun worshipers headed for the beach. When you've enjoyed watching enough of the goings-on for one sitting, disappear into the residence through any of six French doors. On the front side, four doors open into the living room; on the left side, one door opens into one of the baths; on the right side, one opens into the guest bedroom.
With all four glass doors flung open to the balcony, the living/dining area is flooded with gentle light and tropical cross breezes. Even with the doors closed, this great room is delightfully open and airy thanks to a cathedral ceiling, polished woods, Casablanca-style ceiling fans, and a warm pallet of colors selected for the furniture and accents. A deep-seated sofa offers comfort, firm support, and the option to convert into an extra queen bed. Flanking the couch are end tables with reading lamps. Close at hand, a wood and glass coffee table makes a convenient resting place for your guidebook or beverage. A comfy arm chair and a TV media chest with four roomy storage drawers complete the living room setting. It goes without saying that wireless high-speed internet, cable, stereo, and DVD player are at your fingertips when you want them.
To the right is the dining area with an elegant glass-top table and six high-back chairs. Here and throughout the residence, cloud white walls make the perfect background for interesting and colorful art work chosen to embellish the ambience. To the left of the dining room is a kitchen with handsome blond cabinetry above and below offering plenty of storage space. The room is accented with white tiles and contemporary black appliances. All cooking and serving pieces are provided right down to the corkscrew. One end of the kitchen forms a convenient bar/pass-through to the dining area.
Behind the kitchen is the charming front door entry hall with a colorful Welcome sign and table for your keys and other paraphernalia. To the right is what at first looks like a half bath, and it can function that way. Yet immediately around the corner is a generous shower. Not only is this ever-so-convenient setup accessible from the entry hall but also through a door opening into the guest bedroom. The room has a queen bed guaranteed to yield a very restful sleep. Side tables with lamps, a ceiling fan, and a walk-in closet big enough for a whole wardrobe of vacation wear are among the amenities. Again you have the option to open a set of balcony doors to let the incomparable climate and beauty in.
Sometimes a configuration just makes you feel good and that's certainly true of the master suite at Duval Street. It's in a private wing up highly polished stairs to the left of the living room. Here you'll find a king bed with en suite full bath, generous walk-in closet, and a dresser for your foldable items. And there's a surprise addition-a very private balcony where you can drink your morning latte, read the paper, or sun yourself in as little attire as you choose. No one else can see.
When you've spent time on your balcony and checked out the rest of your residence, perhaps it's time to explore Duval Street in person. A right turn will head you towards the shores of the Atlantic and a left turn will head you towards the Gulf of Mexico. In between are all the things that make the Conch Republic so famous: beaches, tours, museums, shopping, over two hundred restaurants, bars, and the Key West Aquarium where you can pet a shark if you dare. Or maybe you'd prefer to have your picture taken at the Southernmost Point buoy or pose with a parrot perched on your head. If the arts interest you, you've come to the right town for music, movies, plays, art galleries, lectures, artists in residence, and more. Don't miss the sunset celebration at Mallory Square or the opportunities for all kinds of water sports along the Historic Seaport boardwalk.
Included in your rental is a family pass to Ft. Taylor State Park, the preferred beach of locals. Claim your spot in the coral sand with a rented umbrella and chaise lounge or just by stretching out your colorful beach towel and plopping down. Maybe snorkel up close and personal with stingrays and tropical fish. When you get hungry or thirsty, a beach concession stand serves beer, food, and snacks. Eat on the deck under an umbrella overlooking the beach. Or bring your own food to enjoy at one of the picnic tables tucked in among shade trees. There are grills, washrooms, changing rooms, outdoor showers, and breathtaking sunsets.

Service was great. Location of the home was next to a bar so late night music and loud bar patrons was something we had to get used to. As for the rental, could use some updating but we were happy with it. The balcony was a plus during the day but was very noisy once the bar started crowd stated to get going. Larger screen TV's would be a nice addition to the unit. Will use Historic Hideaways again. Thank you for the good time.

Loved the people watching... didn't plan it but actually became a part of train tour, coffee and jammies included!!!
Nothing but a good experience with historic hideaways. I would suggest updating the kitchen cooking supplies but overall a great place to stay.
"duval street suites are the best kept secret in key west!!!"

we had the time of our lives at the songwriter's festival and our accomodatations at duval street suites were amazing! we will be back and we will recommend them to everyone we know. the location is perfect for anyone attending multiple venues in a short amount of time. the condo had everything we needed already there for us. the porch is the best asset by far...perfect for relaxing in the evening or coffee in the morning.

We arrived on a Sunday and getting the key was not a problem, we did have a problem with the sofa bed, not in very good shape, but we made the best of it. The last time we stayed in this suite, it was ran by Douglas House and I did not know till I signed the contract that I would be responsible for stripping beds and doing laundry of the towels, also we did not know there was no pool usage, I thought that was ridiculous considering what I paid for the 5 days, also most of the blinds covering the windows or doors were broken or missing and the balcony was great, but very dirty, it needs a good pressure washing. Aside from this we had a good time and will return to Keywest every year as we have for the past 15. I doubt it will be the Duavel Street Suite.

The Duval Street Suite had the advantage of accommodating 4 adults easily, but it would have been helpful to know that the upstairs "main" bedroom is actually a large loft...no door for privacy from the rest of the domicile. For us, this was not a problem...we stuck the kids up there. For two couples, it would be an issue probably...but then, this is Key West and most anything goes.
The digs were fine for the price, and location was okay. The only complaints we have are that the refrigerator did not cool very well, and all but one light bulb went out of the downstairs bath.
The good news is that the folks at Historic Hideaways were excellent to deal with and very accommodating and professional. We highly recommend Tim and his staff for any stay in Key West. Check with them first!

We walked into the place and the first words out of everyone's mouth was wow! The property was well mantained. It was clean, and the location could not have been better! Eveeryone at Historic Hideaway was fantastic. I had originally booked another property thru another company, and from the start I had a strange feeling. The other company made me feel like they were doing me a favor by letting me stay there. I finally cancelled with them, and stumbled upon Historic Hideaway. From the first call to the last, everyone was friendly, helpful, happy that we were staying with them. I will not book a property with anyone but Historic Hideaway form now on!

The property is located in an excellent spot - walking distance to everything we needed. Tim was awesome when we checked in and helped us with our unexpected needs(we had a seagull crash into our windshield on the drive down to Key West.) The property has an great balcony to enjoy a cocktail (or two!) and take in all the sights & sounds of Duvall Street. We loved it there and will book this property again next time we head to Key West.

This place was perfect for us. It had everything we wanted - full kitchen, variety of living spaces, outdoor seating, great view of the town, wireless internet (though you really shouldn't need this on vacation!) - just to name a few of the things. It was very comfortable and well maintained. You couldn't beat sitting on the deck in the morning with a cup of coffee watching the town wake up or ending your evening with a cocktail watching all the evening activities.
The location was great. We were within a few blocks from our favorite beach/bar - Southern Most Beach Cafe - as well as easily walkable for anything else we wanted to do. Since it was at the "quite" end of Duval Street, you did not have to worry about a lot of noise late at night.
The people at Historic Hideaways were great to work with and available whenever we had questions (this was a big plus). They allowed us to store our luggage at their facility, arranged cabs, and just ensured that everything went smoothly.

Were are a pack of 4 (females), in our 40's, all grew up together. This condo was perfect for us. It was spacious and clean and the location is spot-on. Take a right to the beach (south beach is awesome: Chez lounge and umbrellas, bar right on the beach. Fletcher, the beach manager treats you like royalty, excellent guy). Take a left to everything else. Fabulous restaurants and bars just across the street as well (bloodys with brunch at La Te da, and off you go). The porch on this condo is key, it absolutely makes the place. We lived out there.
