Ideally situated in the Historic Seaport side of Old Town Key West, this one-and-one-half-story Island Village Cottage vacation rental is located in one of the most charming and interesting Old Town residential neighborhoods of Key West. Perfect retreat for anyone who wants to experience Key West as the locals love and live it.
The renovation of this 19th Century Classic Revival shotgun cottage was careful to respect the original seafaring charm by restoring the original pine floors on and walls on the first floor. The long tall wooden hall that runs from the front door to the back of the cottage is characteristic of the shotgun island cottage, and the shiny wood floors and pickled walls make it a beautiful room in and of itself. At the same time the renovation opened the ceiling of the living room and upstairs bedroom to create a dramatic spacious living and dining area and upstairs master suite.
A switch-back stair case leads to the 2nd level master bedroom suite. A wooden railing creates an atrium effect from which you can look down at the living room area. Sky lights in the suite make for a bright and cheery bedroom to wake up in. The spacious upstairs master bedroom has a king sized bed and full tiled bath with pedestal sink and a unique large tiled lounging shelf.
The main downstairs living room of the Island Village Cottage has a queen sleeper sofa for extra sleeping. Three sets of French doors lead from the living room to the completely fenced cozy back deck with an intimate small heated dipping / plunge pool. The fully equipped galley kitchen has a nice view of the outdoor area through a cook's pass-through and also has a washer and dryer conveniently situated.
The second bedroom is off the long hall. Beautifully decorated with tropical reds this bedroom has two twin beds that can also be put together to make a king. The second full bathroom is also off the hall. Outside in front enjoy the authentic shot-gun style front porch. This is the perfect place to sit and "watch the world of Key West go by." The front of the house is fenced with the quintessential white picket fence and landscaped with handsome native landscaping to complete the perfect Key West hideaway.

Area: This house is located in the famous historic Old Town Key West waterfront on the gulf side of the island. Here the founding fathers and mothers of the late 1800’s built the first stately homes that stand today as one of the largest and most impressive collection of turn-of-the-century architecture. From larger Greek Revival Victorians to charming shot gun cottages, many of these alluring structures have been restored and renovated to stand in their gleaming glory. Along the Key West Harbor, early business magnates built shipping docks, warehouses, and fish processing plants. Today this district includes famous waterfront restaurants and bars, retail stores, museums, fishing and sailing charters, a large variety of historic homes.
Parking: This home was built in a neighborhood before there were cars. You can park on the street, but we recommend that you park at City of Key West Parking Lot just a few short streets away as most street parking is reserved for permanent residents. From this location you do not need a car. Enjoy walking or biking everywhere you'll see more that way.
