Thoroughly Key West and designed for easy living, this three-story town home is located in the Foundry, part of the residences within the prestigious Truman Annex gated community only a block from Duval and the Historic Seaport. While the impressive brick structure that houses this residence was built around 1845 as an ironworks for Fort Zachery Taylor, the home's interior has been totally redesigned with twenty-first century class and comfort in mind.
Enter through the white picket gate into a private tropical garden. Because this is a corner unit, up a few stairs you'll find an expansive, wrap-around wooden deck where you can drink your morning latte or your evening margarita under gently swaying palms. Sit here on the couch complete with coffee table or stretch out in a comfortable lounger to continue reading the vacation novel you brought along. Later barbeque some local, fresh-caught fish on the grill and enjoy your alfresco meal at the patio table complete with market umbrella. Somewhere in between soak up some sun or take a dip in the temperature-controlled, resort-style pool for the exclusive use of visitors staying in the Foundry units.
The inside living area is just as inviting as the outside. Set into the brick front of the building is a pair of white louvered doors that swing open butterfly style to create a grand entrance way. Above the door is a set-in window complex with white sash that makes an architectural statement and lets in even more ambient light. Once through the welcoming doors, you find an open concept floor plan perfect for living a tropical island life-style. The living area flows into the dining area into the galley kitchen with a half-bath conveniently tucked in to the left. The living area is done appropriately in a palm frond and leaf motifs with colors of green and beige. A couch and several groupings of occasional chairs make this room perfect for conversation, entertaining, relaxing, or watching TV or movies on the flat-screen. A coffee table, side tables, interesting art work, lamps, and an upholstered bench complete the scene. The glass doors and copious windows provide plenty of natural light, while the Moroccan-style ceiling fan circulates air above. Of course there's cable, wireless high-speed internet, and a DVD player.
An artisan leaf-and-candlestick chandelier hangs over the dining table and four chairs. Sit here to enjoy a meal, maybe something still sizzling from being grilled on your deck. Beyond is a compact galley kitchen with granite counter space, double sink, and every convenience you'll need for whipping up meals or reheating leftovers from dinner out the night before. At one end of the kitchen is a door to the deck convenient for bringing food to the outside table or bringing food in from the grill.
To the left of the living area is a staircase that ascends to the master bedroom, en suite full bath, and laundry closet with stacked washer and dryer. The room is comfortably appointed with king bed, side tables with lamps, a dresser with mirror above and plenty of drawer space below. A rattan shelf holds the TV and provides extra drawer space. A desk is provided in case you brought your computer along. One wall is all windows where sunshine pours in. A set of glass doors lead to a glorious private balcony with seating for two.
Up a few more steps brings you to the third-floor guest bedroom featuring two twin beds, wall of windows with slatted window shades, TV, cushioned rattan armchair, a dresser with large drawers, en suite full bath, and closet for hanging items.
All this private, peaceful, and beautiful living space is just minutes from the fun and frivolity you came to Key West to check out. Steps from your door enjoy the manicured landscaping, verdant palms, and interconnecting pathways that give your Truman Annex neighborhood its park-like atmosphere. Stroll out wrought iron privacy gates to find yourself immersed in the sights and sounds of Duval's tourist attractions and Old Town's fabulous restaurants. Check out the tours, museums, water sports, shopping, bars, and over two hundred restaurants, many with open-air seating, some right on the water. Don't miss the Butterfly & Nature Conservatory, boutiques, and especially the nightly sunset celebration at Mallory Square where visitors and locals alike gather to applaud as the sun slips below the horizon. If you like beaches, you accommodations are close to Fort Zachery Taylor, where you can rent chairs, umbrellas, and snorkeling equipment. If you get hungry, there's even a snack bar. While your condo comes with reserved and covered parking, you'll find you don't really need a car. From your central location, everything is easily accessible by foot or bike or pedicab or taxi.

Everything was just perfect! We couldn't have dreamed up a better place to stay. It was so comfortable and accommodating, not to mention ... soooo Key West! We loved it! Thank you so much for allowing us to experience your homes while in Key West. It made everything soooo nice! It was convenient to everything too! We also liked the security of the Truman Annex. We would love to stay with you again sometime... and we do intend to come again .... soon!!!

We canceled out of an unacceptable place where we had been scheduled for over a year. But since this was prime season (winter), I knew it would be hard to find an Old Town place to stay. Unfortunately for the owner of this unit, there was an illness in the family and they couldn't come at their usual time. It was fortunate for us though. There are only a very few end units at the Foundry and this was one of them. End unit means a large, secluded lanai that, in this case, was a tropical paradise with quality lanai furniture and plenty of it. The inside was very nicely furnished with comfortable, as opposed to resort, furniture, good tvs, plenty of dishes, flatwear, cookware, etc. And it was quiet. So quiet. We'd canceled the original place because of the horrible construction noise that we'd not been warned about until we stayed there 2 weeks earlier. It was heaven to find this quiet, secluded condo. And it's in Truman annex which means it's handy to everything. The entire Truman annex is well-done and I'd be delighted to stay anywhere there. Tim, our agent at Historic Hideaways, could not have been easier to deal with, and I'd be happy to stay in any lodging they would have available next year.

Place was wonderful and a great location.Big problem was finding the place. Taxied to your office on Duval. Because of the conversation I had with your office on Friday (you called me), I was ready for early check in at 1200. So much confusion over this, I let the taxi go. When the situation was finally rectified,(there was no one in the condo the previous week), I got another taxi. The office mgr couldn't tell me exactly where the unit was located. The taxi driver couldn't find it either. After severl calls back and forth, it was finally found. I paid another taxi. You should have a detailed map on how to locate all of your properties. I have been to KW several times and had a idea where it was, but a first timer would be lost.

The property was well located and beautiful. What bothered us the most was the quality of the beds and mattresses. When you work hard and plan a vacation to relax, it is unpleasant to wake up with a injured or stiff back. The third floor bedroom with the two twin beds was the worst. The quality of the mattresses was inferior to camping pads. In regards to your next question about a recommendation. I would certainly have to tell a friend about the inferior sleeping equipment and let them make up their own mind. We enjoyed the townhouse, but would not stay there again unless we had proof of improvements in the bedrooms.

The condo was decorated beautifully, much better than the photos showed. There was plenty of space for our family of 4 and my son's girlfriend. The extended outdoor patio gave us plenty of room to be outside with privacy of the picket fence. You can enjoy the noise and excitement of Key West, but as soon as you step into Truman annex, it becomes peacefully quiet. The location of the unit is ideal. This rental was the best one we have had in 17 years of vacationing in the Keys. We will definitely be back.

We stayed for a week in May 2010 at Foundry's Corner in Key West -- traveling to our son's wedding with my sister and brother in law. I did a lot of online research and we finally settled on this unit. It fit our budget and our needs quite well.
The spacious private deck is a great place to unwind after spending time in Old Town. The layout and furnishings of the unit were great for 2 couples with each bedroom being private and housing its own bath. The location is the best -- an easy walk to Mallory Square and Duval Street -- yet it feels like a sanctuary once you enter the gates of Truman annex.
There were only 2 negatives to this unit. The washer/dryer unit is extremely small (only holds about 3 towels at a time) and is located inside the master bedroom. The other negative is the incredibly small pool for the entire Foundry neighborhood! What a blunder on the part of the designer!
We all would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others!

The staff at Historic Hideaways were fantastic...it was a pleasure dealing with them. We really enjoyed the townhouse at Foundry's Corner. It was within walking distance of all the places we wanted to go...especially nice was the proximity to Fort Zachary Taylor State Beach...a wonderful place! We absolutely loved the deck space at the townhouse. Amnenities were sufficient, it was great to have the laundry facilities & a parking space. Although the townhouse was listed as having the option of a sleeper sofa, the sofa was in bad shape...it was uncomfortable to sit in and forget about trying to sleep on the sofabed....4 people could sleep comfortably(maybe new mattresses someday soon tho- but who really cares- you're in Key West right!)-but a 5th person would not be comfortable on that sofa bed....overall, it was a great location & I definitely would stay at the townhouse again.

I was absolutely thrilled with this property, the townhouse was well appointed and beyond comfortable. The location cant be beat as its just a minutes walk to the north end of Duval St. and all its bars and restaurants. We were there for Fantasy Fest and having a secluded, quiet place to come back to away from all the madness that is FF was quite wonderful. I suppose if I had to rate this property on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 12!!!! Trust me, you wont be disappointed in this hideaway.
