This is the real deal-a light, airy, well-appointed Key West townhome with two stories, two bedrooms, two full baths, and all the amenities needed to enhance your vacation lifestyle. Not to mention a large private deck and an inviting pool for the exclusive use of compound residents. La Prive has all this plus close proximity to Atlantic Ocean beaches and the world-famous Duval Street, the entertainment center of the island.
From the street, this property is hidden behind a six-foot wooden security fence that is artfully designed and embellished with bougainvillea vines. Once inside, the approach to the porch features a garden area with table and four chairs flanked on three sides by tropical plantings. Up three stairs is a long side porch "guarded" by a stone pelican sculpture. The porch wraps around into the private deck with in-ground plantings, decorative pots, and more delightful sculpture. Furniture such as a glass table and four chairs, several market shade umbrellas, a set of chaise lounges, and occasional tables make this a very livable and lovely outdoor space. From here you have views of and access to a large and beautiful pool with a coral water feature. The setting makes it easy to imagine yourself enjoying a refreshing dip midday or perhaps under the moonlight.
Once inside, multiple French doors and windows create an easy flow to Key West's famous balmy weather. But the inside has considerable merits of its own. The great room is painted a pale sunlight color, which highlights the highly polished hardwood flooring. A white wicker couch and loveseat are made cozy with red and white striped pillows and an area rug that picks up the red tones. A Caribbean ceiling fan whirs above this conversation area, which is completed by an octagonal coffee table, lamp tables, hutch, bookcase, and a full-sized desk. Imagine relaxing here as you read the novel you brought along or chat with friends or enjoy TV or a movie. Of course there's cable, wireless high-speed Internet, a stereo system, and a DVD player.
A lovely dining area features a glass-top table and continues the classic look from the living area with four white wicker arm chairs. Conveniently located near the dining area is the kitchen, which starts with a breakfast bar fronted by four stool chairs. Sit here for a cup of Cuban coffee or for a quick sandwich at lunch. Or maybe you'd prefer to barbeque something at the grill and eat al fresco at the table on the deck. That's not to say the kitchen isn't perfect for cooking. It is. The space is set up galley style with floor tiles, colorful artistic touches, and modern appliances. As one guest said of the kitchen and La Prive, it "has everything you could want for your island get away."
Across from the kitchen is the first floor full bath, which is tiled and decorated in a Florida beach seashell motif. Close by is the hardwood staircase that leads to the second floor. At the top are two queen bedrooms, a laundry closet with washer and dryer, and full bath. The master bedroom is brightened by two windows and French doors that open onto the second-story balcony. Two chairs and a small round table make this outside space a lovely spot to sit and read the paper or a magazine, glancing up once in a while to appreciate the palm fronds swaying gently in ocean breezes. The spacious full bath features tile flooring, dark wood cabinets, and a turquoise shower curtain with a tropical fish pattern. The curtain makes a delightful focal point as light from a window in the shower stall radiates through. The second bedroom also opens onto the balcony. Both bedrooms are casual, contemporary and comfortable and provide plenty of closet and drawer space.
Once you're settled in at La Prive, it's time to check out the rest of America's only Caribbean island. Your location on United Street gives you quick access to the Atlantic beach life with restaurants and water sports. It also gives you quick access to Duval Street, the main artery that runs the fourteen-block width of the island from the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico. Duval offers much of what Key West is famous and infamous for: tours, beaches, museums, water sports, shopping, bars, and over two hundred restaurants, many with open-air seating, some right on the water. At the Gulf end of the street, you'll find Mallory Square, where the daily sunset celebration and after-party take place. From there you can follow a boardwalk along the Historic Seaport with its restaurants and shops, tall ships, party boats, dive boats, glass-bottom boats, parasail boats, and more.

What a wonderful place to forget the long cold winter and renew

The house was beautiful . The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. It was everything we had hoped it would be. Everything you could possibly need in a house was there. The house was spotless, bright and airy. The back yard was beautiful! If you need a place to relax and rejuvenate this is it! I can't wait to rent it again!

We liked the condo a lot. Very comfortable. A great location for us.
Would prefer a private pool. The pool here is shared but directly
behind the next door condo. We would rent here again because it suits us in every other way.

This rental unit is nice and spacious with a lovely living & dining area downstairs along with a kitchen that has everything you could want for your island get away. The deck off of the back of the house is also spacious and adjoins the shared pool. The neighbors are mostly year round residents and they couldn't have been nicer. The upstairs bedrooms and bathroom are also large by Key West standards and well cooled by the aC system. I stayed with my sister and we just loved it!

Being charged with finding a house, in Key West, perfect for a week for four mature, relaxation-challenged women friends who have never vacationed together, was quite a task. I reviewed, and puzzled, and worried, and prayed, that my choice was a good one. We could not have been any more pleased.
La Prive had a perfect layout, wonderful deck and pool, nice distance from everything for healthy walkers, and a very welcoming neighborhood environment (thank you Donna Jean and Larry!) The stairs were steep but we had no problems. Historic Hideaways answered our call for assistance any time we had a question. I am so appreciative of the hospitality and consideration for visitors; from the perfect getaway library, to the big pool towels, to the privacy offered on front walk, back deck, poolside, the walking distance to Duval and Fausto's market (for healthy walkers,) but most of all for the wonderful, relaxing week that we enjoyed as momentary La Prive residents. Thank you, all!

My boyfriend, I and his parents stayed here for a week in early June for a family wedding at the Casa Marina Resort, just a few blocks away. House was in decent shape, had to call about a few issues including the microwave malfunctioning and downstairs shower knob being broken, all of which was promptly replaced. We wanted to listen to music outside while in the pool and found that none of the outside electrical sockets worked. My boyfriend is an electrician by trade and couldn't get them to work while we were there. We overheard the tree trimmers next door laugh about jumping in the pool because he was covered in fire ants. After that, we didn't touch the pool since it was filled with debris from his clothes. It wasn't cleaned the whole week we were there, however we could've done it ourselves. Grill worked great and all kitchen necessities are provided. This may be a Florida thing, but the kitchen had giant wood roaches. We probably saw about 6 of them (2 of them dead in the sink upon arrival), and it was just disturbing. A grocer is located just around the corner. Did a lot of walking or taxi rides. Duval is just about 5 minutes or so but it's the Upper End and the "tourist" places (Sloppy Joe's, Margaritaville, etc) are at the opposite end! Quiet neighborhood for the most part although it's across from a school/Boys & Girls Club that was loud at times. Wicker furniture is nice but uncomfortable and stairs are quite steep. Probably not good for little kids or elderly since both bedrooms are upstairs. They also have pool towels and sunscreen if you don't have any. Beach is within a comfortable walking distance. Overall it was a decent stay for the money and a great location to the events we needed to be closest to. Read more
We apologize about the bugs in the sink. But it does serve as proof that the Pest Control service works, as all of our units are sprayed monthly by a licensed company. A necessity I’m afraid in the tropics. But we normally do a Check In clean the day (or prior) to Arrivals, so in this case Housekeeping failed (they would have cleaned them up) so I apologize. Pool service is once a week, also by a licensed Pool Service Company, so they were there at some point if you stayed a full week. We hope you’ll try us again if you return to Key West. - Management
Everything we expected and more!

Great location and amenities. Property was clean and really felt like home. Location made everything accessible by bycicle. Local restaurants scattered throughout the neighborhood, from fine dining to takeout. Just a great experience overall!

My son and I stayed at La Prive and really enjoyed our stay. Great location - close to what we wanted to get to. Just some suggestions, the beds could use mattresses and my son stayed in the 2nd bedroom and there was no mattress cover and the sheets were not of high quality. New pillows for both rooms as well. A/C froze up and we knew what to do but having the thermostat in the closet on the 2nd floor is not the best - the downstairs was freezing. Also because our flight out required us to be at the airport at 5:00 am and one of the conditions was to make sure all towels were washed before we left, I ended up bring several small towels with us to make sure all the towels were washed and the little dryer couldn't keep up with the load of towels. The sofa and love seat although it looks great are not very comfortable. Lastly the pool itself needs a little paint job. We still had a great time and the accommodations were great for the price. I have given your name out to people I know so it isn't like I'm picking apart the condo. I would rent this condo again!! Read more
Thanks for your recommendations to pass along to the owners of the property. One item I’d like to clarify for future Guests: We do not require anyone to launder the towels before they leave. There was a short time period where our Rule & Procedures sheet stated this (erroneously), but this was rectified awhile back.

The house was very nice and clean. It looks just like the pictures. No surprises. We were pleasantly surprised with how quiet it was. The deck is large and we had wonderful weather (Dec 20-28)so we spent the majority of our time on the deck. The pools is small and a bit dated but very clean and refreshing. We highly recommend renting bicycles from Island Bicycle (2 blocks away), very nice. We spent the majority of our time on the bikes. One beach is just 2 minutes away on the bikes, we really like the little restaurant there. Mallory Square was about 10 minutes away on bike and 20 minutes walking. The kitchen was sufficiently equipped (we actually did a lot of cooking). We are a family of 4 with 2 teenage daughters and they loved every minute of our stay in Key West. Historic Hideaways was very accommodating and made the rental very easy.

We stayed at La Prive just before Christmas, in December 2012. Overall, it was a nice experience. Garden is beautiful, plenty of room for entertaining. The weather was perfect so we sat outside a lot, enjoying beautiful surroundings. We could not use a swimming pool though because the water was ice cold. We used a barbecue one night so that came in handy. However, we did have some noise from the house next to us. There was a worker there who was cutting wood for about 2-3 hours. I asked him when he will be done because we could not sit outside with all the noise. This is mainly a residential area or at least it feels that way. The area is a little farther from Duval street noise and it is not as nice as the area around Duval street or Eaton street.
The inside of the house is pleasant but also kind of dated, I would definitely recommend an update. Read more
Thank you for your review, Irena. Sorry to hear the neighbors were doing some ‘renovations’ from the sound of it. We never know when a neighbor will decide to do any sort of work, and we are sorry it happened while you were there. More importantly, thank you for pointing out that the pool is not heated. It is not advertised as heated, yet many Guests accidentally overlook that fact in their research, so I’m glad you made a point to mention it so future Guests are better aware. We hope to see you in Key West again. - Management

Enjoyed our stay. Good central location. Nice pool. Enjoyed using the gas grill
The only thing that didn't work well was the downstairs shower. No water pressure. We reported it but never got fixed while we were there. It was inconvenient for two couples to use one bathroom.

We thought La Prive was even better in life than in the photos. It was absolutely perfect. Big enough, small enough, the pool was great and, it was close to everywhere we wanted to be. Most importantly, we could bring our dog which was the main reason we chose it. But, we were pleasantly surprised how great it was dog friendly or not. We would return with or without him. We did not have a single complaint during our 10 day stay. If you are elderly you may have a hard time with the stars. We are not elderly so it was no big deal. The guys at the office were both accommodating at check in and hands off during our stay. Check out was easy.

My family and I enjoyed our stay here. The home was very clean and a perfect size for a family of four. It was nice that there was a pool but we didn't use it during our stay. The only negative was that it was a long walk to get to Duval Street and given that the weather was quite hot when we were there, it was a little exerting.
