This gracious one bedroom, one bath conch cottage with private pool is the perfect place for your dream vacation. Casablanca is set back from White Street which runs the fourteen-block width of the island from the Gulf of Mexico to a fishing pier jutting out into the wide Atlantic Ocean. The street, named after Colonel Joseph White, memorializes a bit of Key West history, that being White's success in the 1830s at passing a Congressional bill establishing the first hospital for the island.
A white picket fence, hedge of deep green foliage, and covered front porch with seating area create a lovely demarcation between White Street and the entry door of Casablanca. Why this name? Probably it denotes the romantic allure of a classic cottage and of the Florida Keys. By the end of your vacation, you might find yourself whispering sentimental Bogart-like lines: "We'll always have Key West."
According to past vacationers, the most alluring aspect of this vacation rental is its large, private pool and leisure area at the rear of the property. The area is so private that you can set whatever dress or undress code you want. The heated, rectangular pool itself is very generous, perfect for swimming laps in case you want exercise. Or just float or paddle around enjoying the relaxing sensation of cool water on your warm skin. The pool is surrounded by a generous stone tile deck with ample room for the cushioned lounge chairs provided. Stretch out to gaze at the sparkling pool, the sunny sky, and the fan palm parameter planted to add beauty and to add to your sense of lush garden privacy.
Smoothly adjacent to the pool deck is a planked patio. It features a round table complete with four cushioned chairs tucked under a large, stripped market umbrella. Conveniently nearby is a gas BBQ ready when you are to grill up burgers, chicken, ribs, fish, or something more exotic.
An expanse of glass doors opens from the patio right into the master bedroom. Or to put it the other way around, you can lie on the king bed and have a delightful view of the pool area. Above the bed is a five-blade ceiling fan with four lights. More features include a full bath, dresser, closet, wooden shelving, lamps, and TV to name just some of the amenities. Need more bed space? The living room has a sleeper sofa that opens into a queen bed.
The doorway from the bedroom leads to the modern kitchen and dining room. White walls, white cabinetry with subtle wood accents, white appliances, and well planned layout of this cottage kitchen insures that every square foot is clean, functional, and efficient. You can tell that cooking-in would be a pleasure. Adjacent to the kitchen is where you'll find a dining table with four chairs, a wrought iron shelf unit, a wine rack, and maple wood cabinet.
The living room continues the concept of lightness and brightness. The glass front door, mirrored walls, and ample casement windows let the sunlight, sea breezes, and faint fragrance of jasmine float from the front through every room. For seating there's the couch made even more inviting by the addition of colorful throw pillows. A wooden trunk with brass fittings serves as the coffee table. Lounge on the couch or in the armchair with ottoman to enjoy a quiet moment or to socialize with family and friends. Or if you decide to open the doors of the wooden armoire, you can watch TV in comfort. Art work, coral pieces, and candle sconces decorate the walls.
Time to venture beyond your bungalow? In your White Street neighborhood, you'll find art galleries, Faustos Food Palace, convenience stores, the Island Gym, yoga studios, and a gas station featuring a local favorite, Dion's fried chicken. Or travel by foot, bike, scooter, or car the seven blocks to Duval Street, the central artery of Key West entertainment. There you'll find more of what Key West is famous for: tours, beaches, museums, water sports, shopping, bars, and over two hundred restaurants, many with outside seating, many with water views. If the arts interest you, you've come to the right town for music, movies, plays, art galleries, lectures, artists in residence, and more. Don't miss the sunset celebration at Mallory Square or the opportunities for all kinds of water sports along the Historic Seaport boardwalk.
Soon enough you'll feel the key to Casablanca in your pocket and decide you're ready to wander back to its casual ambience. Relax or go for a late night dip in the pool. Then sleep in that king size bed so that tomorrow you'll be rested enough to do absolutely everything or to do absolutely nothing.

Ok, so we didn't spend every evening at a bar on Duval. We could have. There are plenty of interesting and fun places to party. But we wanted a break from a particularly hard winter and for us the best vacation was walking Key West's streets, having breakfast and lunch on the shore, and enjoying a lazy afternoon lounging in the sun at the pool with a good book, and a Margarita. The Casablanca was the perfect choice for us. Well appointed, excellent location, comfortable, off street parking - and did I mention it has a terrific private pool?

My husband and I spent a week at the Casablanca recently and it was everything we could have hoped for and more. The house was in a great neighborhood, very quiet but close enough to ride our bikes to Duval Street and the beaches. The private pool was a great way to relax each evening.
Since the house is only one bedroom and bath it is not suitable for a family, but it was perfect for a couple. The pool was well maintained and serviced a few time during the week. The house had everything we needed, including beach towels.
Historic Hideaways was a pleasure to deal with. Since this was our first time renting a home in Key west I had a lot of questions. Tim and the staff were very quick to respond and provide answers to each of my inquiries. I would absolutely book with them again.

My family and I spent a very relaxing week at the rental ands joyed every minute of it. The house was impeccable, as was the pool. The location is ideal for peace and quiet and it's walking distance to Duval. We plan on making yearly return visits.

This is a great place for a break in Key West for 2 people. It away from the bustle of Duval but near enough to walk/bike most places. The private pool and garden are excellent and the house has everything you need. Its a quick stroll to Fausto's for all your food & groceries. Overall, its a superb place to chill and enjoy everything Key West! Would recommend to anyone visiting, its difficult to find fault! This was our 3rd visit to Casablanca, still just as good!

Located a little ways from Duval, but quiet and private. Great tropical backyard with nice size, private pool. Great Service. Refridgerator wasn't working, they had someone out within a couple of hours. House was clean and Historic Hideaways was great to work with.

I loved renting through Historic Hideaways (my third time with HH and second year renting Casablanca). The pool and patio area make this rental very desirable. The house itself is small, but very clean and up to date with cable, wireless, and all appliances. The location is ideal. Walk to Faustos on White street for your groceries, Duval street for some fun, and the White Street Pier for the lovely scenery. or rent a bike from The Bike Shop around the corner on Truman ave and go virtually anywhere on the island.
