Premium views in the heart of Kihei Kihei, Hawaii
Additional Location Information
South Maui is the most sought after location on one of the most desirable islands in the world. It receives more sun than any other part of the island. Kihei contains 6 miles of the most picturesque beaches around. It maintains a quaint beachside community vibe. It is small enough to walk to any of its desirable locations like white sand beaches, lovely parks or local restaurants.
How about a few recommendations?
Horhitos Tacos. It is a parked food truck with shading and some of the best fish tacos I have ever had. They have all types of tacos, quesadillas and burgers. It’s super close to you and super cheap. Just walk north(twd W. Maui) on S. Kihei for a 10min walk.
Kehei Café. One of the more popular spots for breakfast and lunch. Their serving sizes are huge. Shaded outdoor seating. Traditional and Hawaiian food. Head north on S. Kihei for a 10-15min walk.
Lava Java. Great coffee! You should have some in your kondo to try. They have a variety of regular brew and lattes and mochas etc. Outdoor seating. Walk north on S. Kihei for 10-15mins.
Ami Ami. I have not eaten here but it is a popular spot for breakfast and lunch. Nice shaded outdoor seating. Head south(away from W. Maui) on S. Kihei for a 10-15min walk.
Da Kitchen. There are a few locations on Maui. Head south on S. Kihei for a 15-20min walk. It is in a strip mall that runs perpendicular to S. Kihei rs. Traditional and Hawaiian style food and very popular.
Ka’ana Kitchen at Andaz Resort. This restaurant is in Wailea at one of the most scenic resort locations in Wailea. You can sit outside and get a view of the 3 tiered pool and the beach and if you time it right the most amazing sunset!!! This is a fancy farm to table restaurant with a sophisticated menu and great service. Reservations are recommended. (There are many 5-star restaurants in the Wailea area)
I don’t want to spoil the fun of you making your own discoveries so I will stop there. If you have any questions about restaurants or getting around in Kihei feel free to give me a call!
Sunsets. Don’t miss the sunsets here in Kihei! They are an event every night. Get there 30-60mins before sunset to grab a bench along the shore at Kalama Beach park. This park is just north of the Cove and is across from Horhitos Tacos and Kihei Café.
Shopping. Just down the road at the Kalama Village shopping center(across from the big whale statue at Kalama Park) you can buy from local artisans. "Made-in-Maui" items like the Kula Herbs soaps and lotions that are in the condo can be purchased here. The Shops at Wailea mall is considered a do not miss for shopaholics!
Molokini Snorkel Adventure. As you may have read Molokini is an exposed rim of a dormant volcano. It is a fun 1 hour boat ride from Maalaea harbor. Then you get to snorkel in crystal blue waters about 30 feet deep. Most tours are under $100 and include food and offer alcoholic beverages on the ride home.
Golf. If you want to play some golf while you’re here, just head a few minutes south to the Gran Wailea. You will have your choice of three of the best golf courses in the country as rated by Golf Magazine and Golf digest. Amazing views, perfect weather and a legendary Aloha spirit are waiting for you in Wailea.
Whale Watching. From December to April the humpback whales find the channels of south Maui to be a great migrating path. Some boat tours guarantee a whale sighting, but the chances are pretty good on any tour during these months. This is the most popular time for tourism here on Maui.
Road to Hana. This is probably one of the most memorable adventures you can have on this island. The road to Hana is world famous for the natural beauty of its unblemished landscapes and towering waterfalls. This will be a full day of adventure. You can participate via tour company or take your own vehicle. Either way you don’t want to pass up this opportunity!
Haleakala. It sounds like a mouthful but it translates to house of the sun. It is the largest dormant volcano in the world. Expect the most amazing sunrise or sunset from its 10,000ft summit. There are many activities available at this 24 hour national park. Maybe you prefer to scream down the volcano on a specially equipped mountain bike. Whatever you choose make sure you plan for a change in the weather!
Enjoy your stay here. I am here as a resource if needed.
