Amazing Architecturally Designed 4 Bed, 3.5 bath Estate In Kahalu'u Bay-PHKoihal
Description from the manager
We love Koihale, like she’s part of our Ohana. In her we feel the spirit of aloha that is the embodiment of Hawaii.
Koihale or Koi House, was built in 1961 by the Big Island’s most famous architect, Lucky Bennett, and was named by its first owner, to celebrate the carefree spirit of the Koi whom he loved.
Koihale is an exquisite 4 bedroom 3.5 bath gated home, found in the small beach community of Kahalu'u beach, in Kona. She embodies the iconic and livable Lucky Bennett design. Large flowing Koi ponds sets the ambiance as you walk by the natural stone decked swimming pool nestled in the folds of this home making it a mini resort of its own.
Koihale showcases Lucky’s luxurious Hawaiian ‘Island style living’ at the beach park at Kahalu’u. This small beach community of Kahalu’u Beach lots, is just a short stroll to the surf, and a few minutes drive to the center of Kailua-Kona. It’s a dreamy lifestyle for beachcombers, golfers, surfers or artists. This area is steeped in Hawaiian history and is presently seeing a revival in culture, dance, and music!
Koihale captures seaside Kona style and utilizes the mild climate & famous Kona Trade Winds. The timeless design allows you to open the many sliding wooden doors and windows exposing the natural beauty of Hawaii and more importantly utilizes the cooling tropical airflow. Outside this beauty is everywhere - in each angle and in all directions.
Complete with palms & Plumeria; the incredibly generous use of Koa & Mango wood throughout; various cupolas; cool tile floors; the upstairs sunset lanai; the sliding glass walls and doors, and open, indoor-outdoor layout; Koi pond and waterfall gardens - all create a peaceful ambiance that casts the charm.
We love waking every day to the gentle sound of Koi pond’s waterfalls – doves & myriad colored finches splashing about at the waters edge. The ponds - framed by lava rock walls, surrounded by tropical palms & fragrant Plumeria - cradle the Koi that swim playfully through the water. Beyond them lay Kahalu’u Bay, teaming with Honus, Parrot Fish, Black & Yellow Tang, & brilliantly colored coral reef.
Whether you’ve come to Koihale as a retreat from “an extremely hectic life” or just to enjoy the natural beauty of the Big Island, we know that you will find the Spirit of Aloha here within our beautiful Koihale.
We hope that you come and enjoy her as much as she enjoys giving to you.
