Borgo Serato, locally known as Messa Vourgo, is an old and historic part of Kythira's main village, Chora, and is located right under the northern part of the Castle's walls, which was built during the Venetian occupation of the island in the medieval ages. The surrounding area is a site rich in history, with scattered old houses and christian temples (privato) some of them dating back to the 16th century.

The island of Kythira lies opposite the south-eastern tip of the Peloponnese peninsula and according to Hesiod’s myth, the sea that surrounds Kythira is the birthplace of goddess Aphrodite. Kythira is an island with incomparable beauty and unique landscapes, rich in tradition and history. The island's nature consists of hills and valleys leading to enchanting beaches and pristine waters, composing striking views throughout the year.
Chora is the island's capital village and is located on the southern tip of the island. The Residence can be found in Chora's Messa Vourgo historic area right under the Venetian Castle's eastern walls. The distance from the bay of Kapsali is a 10 minute walk while the distance from the island's airport and sea port of Diakofti is about 30 minutes by car.

How to Get to Kythira:
There are various travel routes to Kythira. The most convenient way is to catch one of the daily short flights of Olympic Air from Athens International Airport. The infrastructure of the local airport in Kythira is newly built and car rental services are available on-site. Alternatively there is a boat linking the port of Piraeus with Kythira directly, twice a week. There is also ferry service connecting the island with the ports of Neapoli and Gytheio in Peloponnesus and Kasteli in Crete.
