The charming city of La Paz is an unforgettable Baja California vacation destination. The wide range of beaches, outdoor attractions and one of the best waterfronts in the entire country provide all the necessary ingredients for a relaxing getaway in the sun. Some of the best nightspots and restaurants in La Paz can be found along the Marina Costa Baja, while your best bet for picturesque views and souvenir shops is the waterfront.
While you are in La Paz, be sure to save time for these other sites and activities as well:
- Museo de Antropologia: Learn more about the culture and heritage of La Paz at this popular museum.
- Catedral de Nuestra Senora de la Paz: Built almost 150 years ago, the old gothic architecture of this popular church is certainly worth a visit.
- Malecon Plaza: Musical acts can be found performing on most weekends near the two-story white gazebo at this popular downtown square.
- Biblioteca de Las Californias: With a focus on the history of Baja California, the library has an impressive collection of historical documents and also houses a children's cultural center.
- Go surfing: There are plenty of places along the waterfront to take lessons from local surfing pros or rent boards for the day.
- Go to the Beach: Some of the most popular beaches in the city include Playa Caimancito and Playa el Tecolote.
A vacation rental is the preferred option for those staying in La Paz. Book a luxury condo with waterfront views or a spacious villa with high-end amenities and all the comforts of home. If you are planning a romantic getaway, rent a cozy apartment for two just steps from all that downtown has to offer.
The beautiful weather throughout the year in La Paz means that there is an abundance of outdoor events and festivals to enjoy whenever you decide to visit. Watch world-class volleyball players compete at the Corona Open Volleyball Tournament in August, sample some of the best rock music in Mexico at the four-day Baja Prog Festival in March, or watch the elaborate parades and costumes throughout the streets of La Paz during the February celebration of Carnaval, the Mexican version of Mardi Gras.
Although you can have a great vacation just by staying in La Paz, there are other quaint towns and larger cities within a short drive. If you have some extra time, visit the unique towns of El Zacatal and San Pedro, just a 45 minute drive away, or head approximately 50 miles north to the sprawling beaches of Cabo San Lucas.

"Best accommodations and even better hosts!"
Left on 06/25/2015 for a stay in March 2015
My wife and I stayed here for five weeks in March/April 2015. First thing we noticed was how clean and well furnished it is, including a well equipped kitchen with all new appliances. Second thing, you cannot beat the attention and treatment we got from the owners Kevin and Christine, hostus mostus. Everything from being the most hospitable folks you can imagine to the hottest tips on dining and events in the area. They even invited us to join them on their panga for an evening picnic and sunset tour of the bay, and for a small fee took us snorkeling (equipment provided) with the sea lions. The location is perfect for walking to most anywhere in town as well as evening strolls on the "malecon," the street fronting the bay. The place is quite secure and reasonably quiet in spite of being in a busy neighborhood, the surrounding activity actually contributes to the feeling of well being, especially at night when you might have concerns about being out and about........no problem! We have been vacationing in La Paz for twenty years and this is the best bang for the buck, it fuses historic Mexican architecture cohesively and beautifully with modern conveniences. We'll be back! We spent a week in an area without electricity! Arriving at Paraiso Del Mar was beyond our wildest expectations. The unit was immaculate! And allowed for our large family to stretch out without tripping over each other. The accommodations were first class. The bedrooms and bathrooms were like being at an expensive hotel. Great kitchen with spices, oil and sugar. The TV in the living room was exceptional! We watched a lot of SHARK WEEK! And our 16 year old son was over the moon to be back on the internet! Of course, this was after we did a great deal of diving with sharks! Whales sharks, Silkie Sharks, Reef Sharks and Nurse Sharks. Each morning the Dolphins come by and if you are ready - you can swim very near them. The pool was great, but not as great as the pristine beach.................with no people on it. The staff are some of the most humble people we have ever met. So nice and appear to really love their job. Penny met us at the Marina, helped us unload our car and showed us where to park. They helped us understand what to expect and provided us with a phone for transpiration needs - getting from the unit to the water shuttle. So seamless. We went diving and fishing while in La Paz - the companies picked us up at the dock on the resort side and dropped us off. As soon as we arrived, the shuttle was there to pick us up.
