Designed for beachfront living, the multi-level Generation Gap House rises from the surf to the treetops. The house is built around a lush tropical garden. A central stairway connects the three bedrooms to the main living area above.
Designed for beachfront living, the multi-level Generation Gap House can comfortably accommodate seven guests. The main living area contains both a large circular dining table that seats 12 and a smaller rectangular table that seats eight. A whale rib surrounds the bar and whalebone sculptures hang from the walls. A curved seating area overlooks the central garden. There's also a sun deck outside the main room. The windows and arches of the main living area frame a panoramic view of Paget Farm, Petit Nevis, Isle á Quatre, and the southern Grenadines. Massive tropical vines cascade over the stone walls that surround the central garden where young fruit trees and palms shoot up toward the sky. With three bedrooms and more than 4,000 square feet of living area, Generation Gap is one of the largest houses at Moonhole.
Tom Johnston broke ground on Generation Gap decades ago, envisioning a relatively small house. With encouragement and backing from a friendly homeowner, Tom expanded his vision for the house. It soon evolved into a towering structure, rising more than 100 feet from the beach to the topmost level. Moonhole Company has renovated the house in the past year to bring it back to its former glory.
The Upper Bedroom sits at the level of the treetops. Its large open deck features a rope hammock shaded by a giant gum tree that grows up through the floor of the room. The king bed faces the sea and is encircled by adjustable louvers that admit the tropic breeze while affording privacy.
The Queen Bedroom suite includes an anteroom with a daybed and seating area. Bougainvilleas sway outside the bank of large windows that runs the length of the master bedroom. The queen bed and cushioned window seats face the sea.
The recently reconstructed Lower Bedroom sits above the beach and resounds with the sounds of the waves below. With a king bed and a cavernous private bathroom, this room will suit those who thrive on ocean breezes.
Each bedroom has its own private bathroom.
The kitchen has recently been reequipped with new dishes, glassware and table settings.
