Additional Location Information

Lahania is a small farmers village in the south that is still unspoilt by tourism. The village is surrounded by nature, trees, meadows, and deserted beaches. Unlike other villages, the houses in the village have not been replaced by new houses, but have been restored early on about 20 years ago, by foreign artists who thought this was a perfect village to retreat. They made deals with owners from old houses to renovate the houses and not pay rent for the next 10 or 20 years. Thus all the houses have been nicely restored in its original state, and therefore this village is a village that one sees in the many posters and paintings of Greece, with its white washed chalky houses and blue window seals. The houses have been given back to the Greeks, and they too understood the higher value of leaving them as they were. As Lahania was not located directly on the sea, the tourist traps have skipped this village and left it as it was. There are only 2 restaurants, a cafe and a small super market. Perfect for that all Greek typical holiday in which one has little other option than to relax and blend in in the Greek lifestyle. Your children can run around freely and play with the Greek kids of the village that gather in several places and make fun.

Lahania is an excellent place to initiate many nice walks and strawls, both in the village as well as around the village towards the valleys with its olive trees. At the bottom of the village there are several bays and wide stretched deserted beaches with beautiful white sand. One of them is called Hawaii beach because of it's fine sand, and even a commercial for a coffee brand has been recorded here, pretending this was in exotic places. Crystal clear water and small fishes is what you will find, and if it is wanted, a bit northwards there are several beach bars as well, that have sun beds and restaurants attached to it.

At the house, one can sometimes hear the goats blating that pass by in the morning and lots of different birds singing. When going for a walk down the valley you may likely come across the flock of deer that passes by every morning on their way to water and the forrest.

In the center of the old village there is the church and square, with its Turkish water irrigation system that come out onto the square. At this square there is a restaurant with a huge old plane tree under which one can sit and eat his dinner.

All in all Lahania village is an excellent place to wind down of your busy life and to enjoy the quiet life. For a holiday in which you are not able to enjoy without other tourists around, one does not have to stay here. It will be a holiday that you will definetely remember to be one of the most relaxing ones, you will ever have had.
