We were in the area for work last Christmas and unable to travel home at that time, so this was the closest available rental that I found. We had never been to Ladonia, TX so we did not know what to expect. The biggest drawback for us was that the town is quite rundown, we were hoping for more of a farm/agricultural feel to the town.
The owners of the property are part of a CSa. It was quite fun to watch them interact with their -very friendly- cows each day from the backyard. The hosts were friendly and available to us at anytime. They had decorated for Christmas inside and out. They made sure to include enough stocking hooks for each of my family members. This made our stay very special for my children.
This property has a "grandmas' farmhouse" feel to it, western and cow themed decor throughout. We felt at home and not at a sterile hotel.
The fully stocked kitchen was the best of any rental I've ever been in! A waffle maker/coffee maker/ cookie cutters /utensils, the list goes on and on. Everything worked well while we were there, unfortunately the oven stopped working on our last day, but the owners responded to the issue within minutes.
There were plenty of towels, blankets, and basic supplies.
Overall, we had a very calming and quiet week staying there.
If you are going to be near Ladonia, this is the only place you would want to stay.
