We first stayed in this one bedroom unit on our honeymoon 5 yrs ago. We chose to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary back at the same unit. What a great place for a husband and wife to celebrate God's great grace in their lives! The picture on the inside of the front door says it all "Maui is God's way of loving you".

Puamana is a gem on the Island of Maui and this house is a delight on the waterfront looking out to the Pacific. This was our second stay in 43-4 and already booked for 2011. Perfectly placed, beautifully kept and charming in every way this little house makes sure that one can escape all the rigours of normal life and enjoy the beauty of Maui and Puamana. Nearby Lahaina has everything that is needed for a perfect holiday and the welcome by locals is second to none. Getting there is a major undertaking but once there it is trully paradise.

This is our second trip to Maui staying at Puamana 43-4. We spent a perfect week last May there and thought the week we had planned this year would be as nice. The unit is great. The whole wall of sliding doors opens up for indoor-outdoor living. The multiple ceiling fans really circulate and cool the Trade Winds. The covered lanai is perfect for reading and having meals "alfresco." The air conditioning was appreciated for the late afternoon when the sun is streaming in and at night for good sleeping. We put aluminum foil over the bedroom windows so we could sleep in since it faces the east. We cooked most of our meals and the kitchen was well stocked with what we needed. The hand mixer did not work and the management offered to have it replaced. The only complaint we have about the unit is the couch is worn and uncomfortable. The sound system they installed is great. There are ceiling speakers in ALL the rooms (even the bathrooms) so we would put on Hawaiian music and hear it throughout the whole house. That, with listening to the waves was so relaxing. However, this year, there was construction going on right next door and the unit on the other side of us was rented to a family with 4 little kids. They kept their windows open (I don't think that unit had air conditioning) so we could hear their TV and the kids kept coming over into "our" yard to play. We complained to management so the construction noise stopped until the day we left, and I think the family with the kids were told about the "rules" but their behavior didn't change much. We picked this location because of their strict noise rules. We wanted quiet and relaxation. We were reimbursed one night's cost in compensation. But we would have preferred to be notified in advance of the construction so we could have changed locations or cancelled. Next time we will ask who is booked next door to us, too. So last year's perfect place was not so perfect this year.
Aloha, thank you for your comments. Will pas along your comments to the owner regarding the sofa, they visit every November thus I am sure it will be replaced soon. Our apologies regarding the construction noise. Regarding notificaiton of construction its very difficult to know when the construction will start. Puamana notifies all neighbors when a permit is approved however it then goes to the county and may take 6 months to a year or longer before county approval. At that point the contractor may or may not notify us as his start date is usually subject to arrival of materials from the mainland and scheduling of his crew. Allot of times we just don't know until the work actually starts. The good news though is that Puamana owners are updating and every year there are several beautiful newly renovated homes to enjoy.
