Private Oceanfront Estate, nestled seaside with lush mountain backdrop
Description from the manager
MALAEKAHANA BEACH HOUSE
Secluded oceanfront estate at stunning Malaekahana Bay. On this idelic spot you will go back to a time when life was slow and easy. Northeast trade winds and the occasional sunshine-laced rain showers in this lush tropical setting will instantly set you at ease. Located between the old sugar plantation town of Kahuku and the quaint village of Laie, these units are set beachfront down a private lane off the coastal island highway. This secluded beach-front acre is tucked between a classic ironwood grove and a lawn which stretches down toward a sandy swimming beach. The property has two cottages, although smaller groups can rent the two story unit and the smaller unit will simply be locked off.
In the larger, two-story, cottage, the first level contains a living-room, bathroom, kitchen and bedroom adjoining a large outdoor living area and lanai. Upstairs is a spacious master bedroom (king-size bed and twin size daybed) with a large, airy bathroom and a lanai facing the sunrise. The large second bedroom contains two twin beds, one sofa and a flat screen television.
The smaller, neighboring cottage is laid out with a small bedroom (queen-size bed), kitchen and bathroom, and an exceptionally large living area with two "pu'nees" (queen-size sleeping beds), the entire front opening up onto the lawn and the sea.
There is a 40" flat screen TV, DVD player and iPod docking station in each house.
Malaekahana Bay has a long white-sand beach, which makes it perfect for beach walks, ball games and relaxation. It offers good bodyboarding and surfing opportunities. Located just offshore on the southern end of the bay is the small Mokuauia Island, also known as Goat Island. If you are eager to explore it and want to be on a secluded island all by yourself, you can swim over, take a body- or surfboard with you or when it’s low tide, simply walk over because the water is flat enough. Just put some reef shoes on to prevent cuts on your feet. Goat Island is a real hidden paradise. It has a white, sandy beach and green sea turtles can be spotted in the area
For those who decide to explore beyond their private piece of paradise, just down the road is the Polynesian Cultural Center, an interactive park which seeks to offer guests a deeper understanding of Hawaii and its unique history through on its 42 acre park complete with waterways and a lagoon, art exhibits, crafts and sports exhibition areas, island dancing, mat weaving and coconut husking lessons.

There is a beautiful beach in front of the house. It was very convenient for us because we have three little children. We could enjoy the nice beach and the house not only children but also adults during our stay.
The nearest supermarket "Foodland" seems to be closed on Sundays. Since we didn't know about it, we had very confused the arrival day(it was Sunday!).
There aren't many supermakets and restraunt near the house. If you go there on Sunday, you had better bring some foods and drinks!!

We had a family vacation in this home to celebrate our 10th anniversary. It was everything we expected and more. The setting is gorgeous beyond words, the beach is private and the most beautiful on the island. Best of all, it is steps away from this warm and inviting beach cottage.
We had a few issues with the house but none would deter us from recommending this house or for us to return. There were so many flies that prevented us from opening the door to the garden. There was also a leak in the guest cottage bathroom that was never taken care of even though we called repeatedly.

We stayed in both the main house & guest house at Christmas time/New Years last year (2012). We had 4 adults, 5 young adults & 3 teenagers between the 2 families and the accommodations worked out perfectly. We had a hard time finding the house when we first arrived as well as a mix up that had us only booked for the main house but once we cleared that all up (thankfully the guest house was not rented which would have been awkward as it is in close quarters with the main house fyi) we were very happy with the house. Be forwarnd that there are roosters who wake you very early and lots of them! Also know that the house is quite a bit of a drive from the town Halewia and if its a busy time of year as Christmas was it can take 45 min of sitting in bumper to bumper traffic to get from Halewia to the house. However Sunset Beach/Foodland/Starbucks is closer probably more like 15 min. The house has a great lawn with a nice private little beach. We loved laying in the sun on the lounge chairs on the big lawn and running out to the ocean for a dip or to boogie board. The outdoor shower and croquet set were also big hits! The living room/dining room was a great set up and could accommodate all of us. The Master bedroom has a killer view and deck. We all ate New Year's dinner up on that deck. The decorating is darling and as pictured on the website. Could use nicer linens on the beds but overall we would definitely stay here again if it were off season and there wasn't traffic to contend with.

Hawaii Beach Homes kept us informed every step of the way. This gave us a very comfortable feeling about renting from them. On our first day the house code was incorrect and we called the main office and it was immediately resolved within 15 minutes. We were very pleased with their service.
The home was very clean. No a/C, but all the rooms have screen windows with allowed the ocean breeze to fill the house. After one day a/C never again crossed our minds.
The beds were comfortable, the living room is roomy and inviting. The washer and dryer were outside the main house which was a little confusing but much appreciated. We took advantage of this to pack less clothes bring home more souvenirs.
The property also had WiFi with signal that reached to the beach.
Would recommend this property to people who don't like to be in the middle of the tourist areas. There was 2 grocery stores near by and plenty of places to eat.

Malaekahana Beach House was a wonderful surprise! House and cottage was large and spacious enough to accomodate our group of 9. I loved the rustic beach interior, it was very comfortable and welcoming.
The best part of our stay was being able to acess the amazing beach by just walking out the door, no driving involved. Sunsets were stunning!! Beach was safe for swimming, surfing, boogy boarding and miles of walking.
Easy access to grocery stores, N.Shore, surrounding beaches and snorkel sites.
I will definitely rent this home again and I look forward to returning in 2014.

Our vacation was absolutely paradise. It fed the soul. My family can't wait to return. There is nothing like crossing the lawn to the beach. Highly recommend it for small children! We would go back in a heartbeat. The beach was practically secluded rarely saw neighbors. Being so close to the Polynesian cultural center was a big plus! We had our own mini zoo! A few times a day peacocks and chickens would parade thru our yard; we absolutely loved it, especially the kids. One morning on our early beach hikes we saw monk seal sleeping on the beach and many breeching humpbacks right in front of the property!
If I could recommend anything it would be to upgrade the kitchen to have a dishwasher but we didn't care willing to book this place every year if we can!
Oh yes the master bedroom was absolutely stunning and the pictures don't do it justice. My hubby kept the doors open, nothing like the sound of the ocean lulling you to sleep!
