Additional Location Information

The Grade II listed Cumbrian long house and sandstone barns date back to the 1600s. These 4* and 5* Gold Award winning cottages properties retain many of their original features including old ship timber oak beams, oak mullion windows, flagged stone floors, open fires and stone staircases. The hamlet of Glassonby is 8 miles from Ullswater, one of England’s most beautiful lakes, where there are steam cruises from Pooley Bridge to Glenridding, fabulous hikes up Helvellyn, chances to walk and paddle in the National Trust Aira Force Waterfall, pony treks from Rookin House Farm and canoes and sailboats available to hire from the Glenridding Sailing Centre. When done playing in the Lake District National Park, visitors can enjoy a leisurely meal on the shoreline of Lake Ullswater at the Michelin starred Sharrow Bay, a Michelin starred Egon Ronay top 200 UK restaurant.
There are two excellent pubs in Kirk Oswald the next village over from Glassonby (the Fetherston Arms and the Crown) and in Melmerby which is about 2 miles away, there is the famous organic Village Bakery, the Shepherds Inn Pub and a post office shop and tea room.
