“Superb family house and superb location- thanks for a fabulous h” In spite of a late arrival with small very tired kids and a small miscommunication on key location to gain access to the property (promptly sorted by local rep 'Jess'), we were all thrilled when we saw inside Maison Cruzy. It is an extremely spacious and light property very tastefully decked out to a high standard. There were 4 double bedrooms, 2 of which had adjoining rooms with daybed - ideal for families and 3 bathrooms all kitted out with power showers. There are 2 sitting rooms with an expansive selection of Dvd's for both kids & adults which was a godsend on the bad weather days. The property has a fantastic layout with a small walled courtyard attached to kitchen - ideal for al fresco dining, leading on to a massive barn which was a haven for the kids (and adults too!) during our stay. Filled with badminton court, table tennis, pool table, darts, boxing bag... We had lots of fun playing in here and even did a 'mini Olympics' for the kids. There are many bikes and helmets available to use and although not ideal for small children, the adults had a wonderful time doing some road biking in the beautiful surrounding villages and vineyards. The pool is set within a high walled garden, gets the sun all day and yet is well protected from any wind. It was unseasonably cool during our stay and the pool is not heated but this didn't seem to prevent the kids from enjoying a splash. Cruzy is a small town but had a local boulangerie for fresh croissants/bread each morning as well as a small grocery store. There are a couple of lovely restaurants within the locality 10 drive away, Terminus highly recommended. The surrounding areas are fantastic - there really is something for everyone... 1/2 hr drive from beaches, 45 mins from Carcassonne, vineyards everywhere, roquebrun for mountains, walking & kayaking and some of the best road biking we've ever done! Paddy, Emer, Jess & Miles were very accessible and helpful with lots of a advice/recommendations. A superb holiday!

“Great house and greta town” I really enjoyed our stay at your house. The house is in a wonderful part of the town, so close to everything. I could park my car just near the front of the house then walk to a bakery and a restaurant of our choice, how good are the restaurants in the town. The house was so comfortable but the best part for me anyway was the courtyard and terrace. For my wife she couldn't stop raving about the new kitchen and bathroom. Congratulations on the house and we have already planned to stay there within the next year.

“Relaxing, Uplifting, and Unique!” Out of the many places we have visited this was top. It was a bit different to the usual holiday - not very touristy, not full of bars and restaurants, we didnt come home feeling overindulged and lazy! Rather, it was a mix between an activity adventure and a relaxation haven. Una and family warmly welcomed us and they were available anytime during our stay to offer friendly advice about the area. The accommodation was immaculate, and truly unique. An historic farmhouse conversion, both rustic and modern. The area was well off the beaten track, providing the perfect location to relax and enjoy life at its most simplest. We bought delicious local produce and prepared our own meals most days. We also enjoyed mountain biking, canoeing, fishing, countryside hiking, dining out in the local villages, a city trip to the nearby Toulouse, and much more - we got engaged there! That holiday will always standout in our memories as truly special. Would highly recommend.

“A summer to remember” My "wow" test for a holiday is how long after I have returned home do the memories last. When doing the math, 4 years have past - I can't believe it. I can still recall times playing in the pool, trips to the bakery for fresh bread in the morning, great meals both at home and in the countryside and ending the day by the pool at night with a glass of wine or two or... We still talk about our summer in France and can't wait to get back again.

“Beautiful accommodation in a beautiful part of France.” This accommodation in Olonzac is perfectly situated for exploring the beautiful region of Languedoc. Whether we headed north, south, east or west, there was so much to see that our four weeks stay was not nearly enough! Lucy (our landlady) could not have been more helpful, from the time of booking to the day of leaving. The accommodation was particularly delightful and a pleasure to return to after a day's exploring. We left when the grapes were tiny and green, but would love to be there at harvest time!

“thyme out” My wife and I recently spent a week in Thyme cottage in the Tarn region. From the moment we arrived we knew we would be happy here. Una welcomed us warmly with, to our delight, real coffee and a bottle of the local wine. She gave us lots of information about the area and then tactfully left us to our own devices. The cottage was an old converted stone building with all the necessary bits and pieces including outdoor tables and loungers. It was surrounded by pretty flowers and a grassy path led to the tiny village of Coumbieres. If you like majestic forests, pretty quiet little villages and shady walks then this is for you. But, if you like mountain biking and other exhilerating mountain activities then this is also the place for you and Una can help in arranging things for you.You do need a car as you are luckily a bit off the beaten path. There are many sights to explore nearby eg. the beautiful Black Mountains, the breathtaking Viaduc de Millau, highest in the world, the amazing Toulouse Lautrec museum, the many sleepy villages and much much more.We would love to return to Thyme cottage.

“Real French accomodation in a lovely French village” Me, my husband and two kids with the age of fifteen and twelve years old spent a splendid holiday in this lovely house. Really nice decorated and all comfort things are present (beds, sofas, fridge, stove, large dining table, washingmachine, bbq etc,). We found the silence really remarkable (and pleasant). We loved the location of the house and the nearest bigger village St. Chinian.

About Languedoc-Roussillon

The southern French region of Languedoc-Roussillon is a land of sunshine, wine and flavorful continental cuisine. Located on the balmy shores of the Mediterranean, with the Pyrenees Mountains watching from the southeastern plains, this region combines the majestic beauty of the French highlands with the warmth of the sea coast. Languedoc-Roussillon is also a wine connoisseur's paradise, and the region produces some of the world's finest merlots, cabernets and chardonnays.

Some of the top attractions in the region include:

  • Montpellier: The busiest metropolitan area of the region, Montpellier boasts Roman aqueducts, centuries-old chateaux and world-class shopping, dining, entertainment, and nightlife. Its quaint, picturesque streets bustle with activity during high season, yet the city retains a laid-back, relaxed feel.
  • Sete: Situated on the Mediterranean, Sete offers a less-touristy taste of the French Riviera. This region, peacefully nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenees, offers stunning scenic beauty, old-world charm and some of the area's finest beaches.
  • Vinecole: A wine school, Vinecole, is one of the trendiest destinations in the region. Visitors can learn the basics of wine appreciation, and more advanced aficionados can challenge their palates with a wide range of quality wines.
  • Canal du Midi: This intricate network of canals connects the Mediterranean Sea with the Atlantic Ocean and offers some of the region's best photo opportunities.
  • Carcassonne's medieval city: A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the medieval city in Carcassonne makes for an excellent day trip if you're in the area on an extended holiday.

July is one of the best months to visit France. It's when the nation celebrates Bastille Day, France's national holiday, with a singular zeal and fervor. However, given its southern location, visitors find Languedoc-Roussillon a pleasure to visit throughout the year.

For accommodations, the region is home to a varied range of vacation rentals. If you're staying in the city or near the coast, a condo or villa is a natural choice, and a rustic rural cabin makes a more comfortable alternative to roughing it in campsites in Languedoc-Roussillon.

You can continue to explore the Mediterranean coast from Languedoc-Roussillon by heading to nearby Nice for a taste of French cosmopolitan chic, or by checking out Monaco, a famous playground of the rich and famous.
