“Relaxation at it's finest” Although it's a few mile from the nearest town and to me not a well known place, this place is a great place for most people whether your someone who likes to go for walks or just wants to sit back and relax, it's the perfect getaway. Compact and cosy is the best way to explain it. From the day we arrived we felt like we were made very welcome from the hosts along with the 3 dogs who always came to greet you every day. They allow you to take a tour of their land, which is around 3 acres. A taxi service is also offered if you want to head to a pub from Trevor which is extremely generous. The thing that made this place great for me has to be the hot tub. I want one haha. Despite not having the weather and not being able to see the stars, it is just so relaxing no matter what the weather is and chill with a drink at whatever time you like. Research for activities to do is best done before you head there but Gretna is a decent place to go to if you have never been there before. To summarise, we really enjoyed our stay here and would happily return if we get the chance.

“Beautifully presented and equipped property.” Certainly the best self-catering property we have ever had.No downsides to it, everything about this is a1. The master bedroom in particular is stunning, but on the whole the attention to detail in every aspect from cutlery to furnishings is fantastic. Also worthy of mention is the very friendly approach of the owner who is a pleasure to deal with. Cold weather at New Year limited our useage of the outdoor facilities, but the view from the garden is fantastic. Crail itself is a lovely location.

“The perfect home” Sitting having breakfast, looking out over the water watching the sea birds dive for fish, scanning our eyes to the field below the cliff edge taking in the wonder of young eaglets finding their wings.Pure magic. Coming home after a day exploring Gods Island to sit round a log fire, cosy, comfortable and then to sink in luxurious beds to arise to more wonders of Skye. All this was made possible by our host, who kept us stocked with logs, kindness and friendship. The best holiday cottage ever and if the owner ever considers selling we would make our home in this lovely cottage

“A wonderful retreat!” We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Coach House. There was a cake awaiting our arrival! The owners were very helpful when a small problem arose and were on to fixing it straight away. The house is in a very quiet area with lovely surroundings. The coast is not too far away with lovely beaches and walks. We loved being there and enjoying the quietness.

About Scotland

Scotland is a picturesque and charming land with a fascinating Celtic heritage and wonderful historic sites. Occupying the northern British Isles, Scotland is quite distinct from England and Wales. Here, you will find that age-old Scotch tradition are alive and well, from bagpipes and Celtic folklore, to traditional foods like haggis and shortbread.

Built along the green hillsides of central Scotland, the capital of Edinburgh is a delightful city, replete with medieval architecture, stone castles, and enchanting narrow streets. Visit during one of the city's international festivals and you will find Edinburgh alive with music and the arts. Though less celebrated than Edinburgh, consider a visit to the northern city of Glasgow, an increasingly popular destination. Like Edinburgh, Glasgow has wonderful architecture, museums, and history, complimented by a very contemporary and youthful spirit.

Outside the cities, the mysteriously beautiful and fog-shrouded countryside in the Scottish Highlands seem a fitting backdrop for the haunting strains of the bagpipe. With its misty weather and abundant agriculture, Scottish food is pleasingly hearty and fresh, with a surprisingly delicious range of vegetables grown within the country. While you are here, try smoked salmon, wonderful local cheeses, or a Scotch pie accompanied by Scotland's famous malt whiskey, or Scotch. Many distilleries even offer tours of their facilities, where you can pick up a bottle of rare Scotch for friends at home. Scotland is also a great place to shop for traditional clothing, especially fine wool sweaters and scarves, kilts, and the famous Scottish tartan.

When planning your trip to Scotland, keep these destinations in mind:

  • Outer Hebrides: Also called the Western Isles, the Outer Hebrides is a beautiful archipelago of islands on Scotland's Atlantic coast, dotted with tiny towns.
  • Isle of Skye: This mysterious island offers one of Scotland's most unforgettable landscapes.
  • Inverness: This charming sea village is a great jumping off point for trips around the lochs of the Scottish Highlands.
  • Shetland Islands: Scotland's distant northern islands have a Scandinavian heritage, beautiful natural scenery, and abundant birds and wildlife.

When visiting Scotland, live like the locals in a cozy cabin along the lakes and glens of the Highlands, or look for a comfortable vacation rental on one of Scotland's picturesque islands. To explore the chic cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, many prefer an apartment rental or modern condo in the downtown district. During the summer, come home to a private beach house on Scotland's beautiful shores. From there, you can explore the unique culture of rural Scotland, while enjoying some of Europe's most pristine and unusual wilderness.

Couldn’t be better

Stayed in this apartment for a few nights and can only give it 5 stars. Lovely owners and gorgeous Ellie the dog. East Neuk is such a fabulous area and after 3 visits there’s still so much more to see and do. Plenty of info in the accommodation and owners are on hand to offer help if required. Spotless, very well equipped, good location. What more can I say. Thanks Jackie and Carole.see more

Well-equipped, clean house in beautiful location

The house had everything we needed. Very clean, spacious, had all necessary gadgets and WiFi. Appealing interior. Enclosed garden so our dog couldn't run off. Nice walks in the area. Very quiet location. 5 km walk into Carbost (Talisker Distillery) along the road has amazing views of mountains and bay on a sunny day. There are a lot of sights within easy reach, like Fairy Pools, Distillery, Talisker Bay etc., and Dunvegan Castle, Portree, and the Cullins and many more less then a 45 minute scenic drive away. Personally, I would advise bringing a car, although there are daily buses into Portree leaving from the nearby hotel. The hotel, which is only 5 minutes walk away, serves amazing dinners. The neighbourhood was really friendly, and the neighbours across the road extremely helpful as we had trouble with our campervan. (We visited in August, so I can't comment on the heating system. For us, the house felt comfortably warm and dry despite some rainy days we had. We didn't use the heater.) I would definitely recommend anyone looking to break away from the crowds to stay here, especially as the bigger places in Skye get so full during summer. I think the price is OK for what the place has to offer.see more

Perfect location, close to everything. We watched the parade from the Military Tattoo after the last performance every evening right outside our window! Very clean and comfortable. We were able to walk everywhere and owner is very accommodating. Great little pub right next door with music every night. Would rent again if we get a chance to come back.see more
