Becks Cabin....Ride the tail of the dragon!

Robbinsville log cabin

“Perfect Trip!” We did not travel far from where we are from, but we felt like we had escaped to the most beautiful part of the middle of nowhere. Everything you forgot or might have forgotten was available, and the six of us (8 one night) slept completely comfortably. We have already inquired about returning in summers and winters to come. We were secluded, and the yard was perfect for our endless bocce ball games. Very worth it!

“Awesome Cabin!!” My husband and I rented this property for the July 4th weekend. His sister and her husband traveled with us. At first we thought we were going to the end of the Earth, but after finding the cabin we were all very pleased. It was very nice! Clean, spacious, and private. Giving each couple their own bedroom and bathroom. Best of all, Liz, is an amazing hostess, checking in with us daily to be sure everything was perfect. I would highly recommend this cabin for a nice relaxing weekend.

“Quiet, comfortable, delicious, interesting and easy!” Quiet, tho we watched a movie and enjoyed the creek flow sounds; comfortable and pretty indoors and out; delicious organic goodies from the garden with tour; interesting to see and learn about the eco architecture; and super easy staying in or going to Bryson City or asheville. We totally enjoyed it and meeting Linda!

About Robbinsville

About Robbinsville

With a population of just 620, Robbinsville is the county seat of Graham County. It's a mostly wooded area of the state in the far western corner near the Tennessee border.

Way back in 1874, the town's main industry was tobacco. But in the 20th century, manufacturers came to town, setting up factories to produce textiles and furniture. Now these factories have closed, the citizens of Robbinsville rely on tourism to fuel the local economy.

Despite being tiny, Robbinsville has had its moment of fame on the big screen—nearby Cheoah Dam (the highest Dam in the United States at 225-feet) featured in “The Fugitive” starring Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones.

Graham County is the last “dry county” (the sale of alcohol is forbidden) in the state of North Carolina. However, certain resorts and lodges have permission to sell beer, wine, and hard liquor.

What to do in Robbinsville

America’s greatest walk in the woods, the 2,181 miles long Georgia to Maine Appalachian Trail, passes seven miles northeast of Robbinsville at the Stecoah Gap. Trek there for fantastic views of Fountain Lake.

Just six miles from Robbinsville, you come across Lake Santeetlah. Entirely surrounded by the Nantahala National Forest, the lake is often called one of the most beautiful unspoiled lakes in the country. Its entire 76-mile shoreline is watched over by the National Park Service who welcome you to camp, swim, fish or go boating on the lake.

Take a short hike in the Nantahala National Forest and discover the 50ft Yellow Creek Falls and swimming hole. With its cool, crystal clear, mountain spring water, it’s the ideal spot to cool off on a hot summer day.

The area also includes some of the most scenic drives in the country aptly named the “Dragon” and “Cherohala Skyway”.

Top travel tips for Robbinsville

Summer is, of course, the best time to visit Robbinsville and the North Carolina mountains for outdoor recreation and fun on the lakes. It is also the time of year when every Friday night, the folks at Robbinsville get together at City Hall to play traditional bluegrass folk music.

Spring is perfect for people wanting to hike the Appalachian Trail or mountain bike through the Nantahala National Forest. Fall offers fantastic, colorful views along the Blue Ridge Parkway, while winter creates a snowy wonderland ideal for cross country skiing and other winter sports. In short, it’s superb whatever time of year you decide to visit.

The Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina are the perfect place to kick back with nature and enjoy yourself out in the wild. With few people, wide open spaces and scenery to die for, spend a week or two by the lake at the Robbinsville property you found on FlipKey.

Becks Cabin....Ride the tail of the dragon!
Wonderful cabin in a great mountain location

We stayed here for 3 days in late September and had a grand time. The owner is easy-going, flexible and easy to work with. The cabin is in fine shape; it must be quite new. The location is excellent ... up a scenic hollow, giving the sense you're completely isolated, but you're only a short drive from all kinds of great western North Carolina mountain activities. All this for a very reasonable price.see more
Amazing and Cozy Log Cabin in the Woods
Incredible all the way around

I am very honest in my reviews. I can honestly say that we did have a mishap when we first arrived. I know I rated this property excellent and that is because of the way that the owner, Liz, handled the mishap, she really took care of us and truly left a great impression not only of her but of her property. I can honestly say that Liz, the property, the area, and cabins were all excellent. We had one of the best times as a family there and created incredible memories. Facts about the property: It is a rather large property with a tennis court, kids large playground, fire pits, camping sites, office, and gymnasium, all included for our pleasure. Once you go up the mountain on the back, there are two cabins and Liz's wonderful bed and breakfast home. There is a lot of privacy between the cabins due to the uphill and trees. One clarification, the WIFI is not accessible in the cabins but it is accessible in the office on the property once you go down the road from the cabins. It is walking distance. She also has a land line in the office that can be used. The cabins are absolutely beautiful and clean! The layout is amazing with a beautiful large window in the front that has peaceful views to enjoy. Liz and her sons are extremely welcoming and helpful in anything that is needed. They are sweet enough to check in every so often to make sure all is well. Liz also has a beautiful dog that our kids enjoyed and loved. Facts about the area: There is so much to do here, especially over the summer. There is the lake beach, springs you can walk to and get in, the "big tree" forest, the dragons tail, and many other fun things to do. The cabin was located close to these areas, especially the Fontana Dam, with was incredible to see. One of these cabins was also handicap accessible with a ramp and large shower with a seat in it. Thank you Liz for an amazing time, wonderful conversations, and welcoming us to your beautiful property. It was truly a blessing to be there. Tatiana and family:)see more
