“third time at this villa in paradise” we recently stayed at the wonderful Shalini Villa for the third time in three years…we don't even think of staying anywhere else…only one small problem…it is so nice we hardly want to leave the pool and gardens all day and it breaks our hearts every time we ave to leave..could not recommend it more highly for style, comfort, food, service…..nothing is ever too much of a problem for the staff who are so attentive and kind

“Very quiet and relaxing” We had an excellent stay at the cottage with our 2 young children who shared the spare queen bed. Although it was monsoon season there was only limited rain and the house sits up on the hill and catch a good breeze. The fans in the bedrooms are excellent and we did not require the A/C (only available in the main bedroom). The cleaners were discrete and did an excellent job. Each evening we had the pleasant company of frogs and toads singing in the pond. We will most likely stay there again.

“Lovely peaceful house close to Galle and beaches” We stayed for 3 weeks in July/August 2014. The house is lovely and well equipped - it has everything you could need for cooking, and there are lots of places to sit outside in sun or shade and enjoy visits from monkeys, chipmunks and other wildlife. There are fans downstairs and A/C in the bedroom so possible to escape from the heat and sleep soundly. The location was quiet and great for trips to Galle and to Unawatuna (just a tuk-tuk ride away). There are a few nearby shops and the bread man and fish man pass by every morning. Nearby Wijaya beach was very beautiful and safe for swimming in July and there were also nearby beach clubs with pools. The train station and a few shops are just down the road, making it possible to do interesting day trips. Sarath, the owner's father-in-law, looked after us perfectly, in a very unobtrusive way, but always willing to help with everything and very good with children. His wife also cooked amazing meals for us (to go with the delicious seafood we ate at local restaurants). We really enjoyed our time in the house and in beautiful Sri Lanka.

“Amazing experience!” My first trip to Sri Lanka was a truly amazing experience and the icing on the cake was my stay at Frangipani House. The house is set in tranquil surroundings, overlooking paddy fields, a peaceful place to recharge the batteries . Far enough away from the hustle & bustle but close enough to beaches & attractions within minutes- the best of both worlds! Frangipani House & Ranil the property host are first class. Nothing is too much trouble for Ranil, his hosting & cooking skills are superb & second to none, as well as his knowledge of this beautiful country. I would highly recommend a stay at Frangipani House, I can't wait to go back!

“Fabulous pocket paradise” We spent Christmas and New Year at The Petals. It has such a lovely atmosphere, tucked away amongst the rice paddies, a perfect retreat from the bustle of Galle, and right by the beach - easily reached by tuk tuk. The gardens are beautiful and full of birds. We spent evenings eating Upul's delicious curries (far better than any we ate anywhere else), as fireflies floated over the garden, and afternoons by the pool, to which kingfishers were regular visitors. Linda was delightful to deal with and gave us lots of recommendations. We spent a great morning cycling through the surrounding fields and villages, seeing local life. A completely enchanting, delightful spot.

“Well appointed appartment in a convenient location for an memora” The accommodation at Whitemanor is excellent, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The staff are very willing and will go to whatever lenghts possible to please and to make your visit very enjoyable. Ten minutes walk to the beach with it's selection of restaurants and bars, it's location takes you away from the noise and bustle of the tourist area and becomes a relaxing retreat when you want to 'get away from it all'. Galle is a 15 minute tuk tuk drive where you can enjoy the Fort and the shops and markets in the town.

Sri Lanka. villa / guest house
Quiet, excellent location

We do have enjoyed our 3 nights in this wonderful villa in Unawatuna. Magic view on the rice plantation, tuk tuk available to drive us to the beach (10 min) or to Galle (15 min), excellent welcoming by Ranil, house conceived with really good taste. … see more
Hibiscus Cottage: peaceful, stylish house & garden
Exotic and convenient holiday!

We spent two great weeks at Hibiscus Cottage, very secluded and nice place! The house is amazing! Everything looks exactly as on the pictures. There is absolutely everything required - towels and beach towels, WiFi, washing machine, all the kitchen stuff and even set of nice tea pots to take wonderful Sri Lanka tea at the terrace. The garden was terrific! It was possible to see monkeys so close!! Shower which was partly open-aired brought us so many wonderful impressions (tropical warm rain or moon seen right from there). The house is very close to the beach and different restaurants. Near there is supermarket with really friendly owner, a place to buy fruits, wine store and other nesessary places nearby. The personnel was extremely friendly, helped us with all the issues and even arranged transfer from/to airport at very reasonable price with much comfort. The owner is very friendly too, always gives feedback and much useful information. Thank you very much for our great holiday! :)see more
Shalini Villa
Truly amazing stay!

I would highly recommend staying at the Shalini Villa, we had an amazing time there. A very peaceful and tranquil setting. Leaving the luxury of the Villa is hard but if you do Unawatuna's beach bars and restaurants are very close by. All of the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The Villa itself is very spacious, has very tall ceilings and is airy throughout. The bedrooms are minimalist and luxurious. A great stay and would definitely come back! Many thankssee more
Olu villa
The perfect villa

We had the pleasure to stay in this wonderful villa for a week in October, 2 adults and 2 children age 11 and 8 and are already planning a return trip! We booked this villa very last minute by emailing the owner in a panic who was so kind calling us from Norway and sorting the villa ready for us in the space of an hour. A beautiful, stylish villa that had everything , beach towels, washing machine and every kitchen utensil you could imagine. It really felt like we were in a hidden little secret garden somewhere. Our children loved the garden hunting for frogs and bugs and planned early morning walks to the nearby Mangroves with the father of the owners, which they absolutely loved. We would normally go for accommodation with a pool but we didn't miss this at all as the sea is so close and we also went to a few nearby small hotels and paid 500 rps to use the pools for the day. Having all the gorgeous areas with comfy, brightly colored cushions scattered everywhere for relaxing inside and outside of the villa and having space to relax outweighed a pool for us. Yummy curries cooked by the family if organised in advance is a must. The lovely big table outside was our special area to eat breakfast and plan our days. We absolutely loved this villa.see more
Dionis Villa: Dharma apartment
A most enjoyable short stay

I stayed three nights in the off season, so Unawatuna was delightfully quiet and relaxed, much more pleasant than in the over-busy tourist season. Raju's brother and sister-in-law Manika welcomed me very cheerfully and throughout were charming. Their tuk-tuk was very useful, sometimes getting to and from the beach which is at least 15' away on foot, and quite steeply uphill coming home. There is no a/c, but this first-floor apartment was cool enough with windows open and fans on. The showers and basin suffered from a dribble of a water flow and this should be improved if possible. Pretty garden, mostly secluded especially as the other two flats were unoccupied, but other properties are quite close by. This is an ideal apartment for a couple; I wouldn't recommend it for a larger group, but the two other flats have two bedrooms. This was perfect for me and I'll return as and when the opportunity comes up. Thank you Francesca, Raju and Manika and Manika's husband whose name I never quite got right!!!see more
