The visit of Villegate and Les Ecotays will offer you an historical course of the village of Le Tronchet.
With its abbaye built in 1229 and renovated in the 17th Century, Le Tronchet allies the past and modernity through an architecture that is typically Breton. You will discover its history, its daily life and various local activities.
The "Emerald Coast" runs along the north coast of Brittany from St-Malo and Dinard to Cap Frehel. Along this stretch of coast are numerous seaside resorts like Dinard, Parame, Servan-sur-Mer, Rotheneuf, St-Briac, St-Lunaire, Lancieux, St-Jacut, St-Cast et Cancale (oyster-beds), all linked by a coast road.
Situated in the middle of a bay, the Mont Saint-Michel welcomes nearly three and a half million people every year (visitors, pilgrims and tourists).
At the entrance of this medieval town is the ancient Burgher's Guardroom now the Tourist Office.
After going through the Boulevard Gate and then the King's Gate fortified with its portcullis, you will find the « Grande Rue » or main street with its museums, shops and houses dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. The parish church consecrated to St. Pierre, the patron saint of fishermen is a small edifice from the 15th and 16th centuries.
Finally you will get to the « Grande Degre » or Grande Staircase whose majesty is a prelude to the « Marvel ». After admiring the Abbey church, you can enjoy the beautiful and matchless view over the bay when going down the ramparts path.
The Abbey : The Mount consecrated to St Michel in 708 was one of the first place of cult for the Archangel Michel with the Gargan's Mount. The abbey presents a big panorama of the medieval architecture from the XI to the XVI th century.
Cancale is a superb place to visit and has so much to offer. Cancale's Oysters are very famous, as well as its cuisine. You can get beautiful panoramic views from the coastal paths.
The local people have succeeded in preserving the natural beauty spots and the environment so that they can enjoy them all year round, and visitors can discover them, whatever the season of the year.
