“Great cabin” What a great experience staying at the cabin. The cabin was well set up and very original. Fantastic secluded spot yet close for access to the blue ridge parkway. We will definitely be looking to book again in the future when we come back to the US. Thanks for making the trip memorable!

“Excellent "headquarter" for exploring Shenandoah” We stayed for a week and was very satisfied with both location and the room and its facilities. Their was always a nice place to sit outside and enjoy the landscape or read regardless of the weather - either on the lawn or on the porch. We were primarily interested in hiking in the surrounding mountains and visiting historic sites and for that it was a perfect "headquarter" for the week we stayed.

About Lexington

Lexington has long been known as a historical destination, but the thriving arts scene and outdoor recreation activities are giving people a new reason to come and visit the area. The city mixes old southern hospitality with a modern and vibrant energy, due largely in part to the multiple universities that are housed in the area. Main Street is where you'll find the Virginia Military Institute and most of the nightlife in town, but there's something to do in just about every part of Lexington, so be sure to take some time to explore the area fully.

Here are a few suggestions of things to do in Lexington:

  • George C. Marshall Museum: Learn more about why this war hero is considered to be one of the greatest Americans of the 20th century.
  • Virginia Military Institute: Take a free tour of the beautiful campus to learn more about the history and traditions of this university.
  • Try the Wines: Lexington Valley Vineyard is just one of several wineries in the area offering free tours of their vineyards and tastings.
  • Blue Ridge Parkway: Spend an afternoon on the Blue Ridge Parkway, known as "America's Favorite Scenic Drive".

As one of the larger cities in the state, there's no shortage of annual events and festivals here. Cheer on the competitors taking part in the Annual Road and River Relay in April, celebrate the confluence of Lexington's two rivers at the Glasgow Riverfest Celebration in June, or watch some of the world's finest horses compete in the Arabian Classic Horse Show in September.

Lexington has a wide range of vacation rental options, suitable for all family sizes and budgets. Book a condo or apartment that's in the middle of town and puts you near the excellent dining options and rows of art galleries. Or, for a more rural experience, rent a beautiful cabin closer to the mountains and local state parks.

If you have some extra time to explore the surrounding area, the historical sites of Lynchburg and big city attractions of Harrisonburg can both be reached within a 45 minute car ride.

peace and quiet

We were finishing up our trip out East by wanting to relax for a day or two before heading back home.Could not have been much better.Very quiet and secluded location in a rustic cabin, but decently furnished with enough modern conveniences .We even saw a few deer outside feeding along the driveway.Exactly what we were looking for.see more
Alone Mill Schoolhouse - Outdoor Lovers Paradise
Peaceful retreat.

My friends and I booked this rental for a girls get away. The house was extremely clean and well maintained. The outside was welcoming and tranquil. The two full bathrooms were useful when dealing with 5 ladies ;). All of the beds were comfortable and everyone slept well. We were close enough to town that it was an easy drive yet far away enough to take in the quietness of the country side. I would highly recommend this vacation home and will be booking it again the next time I plan a few nights around Lexington.see more
