The moment we rolled through the gates of the chateau, we knew we'd made an outstanding choice in terms of accommodation - this place surpassed all of our expectations. Not only was it in one of the most lush and beautiful regions of central France, but it was gorgeously furnished, decadent in it's size, incredibly well maintained and amazingly well equipped."

Additional Location Information
This 17th century chateau is set in a tiny hamlet and enjoys being very private - the road which approaches the chateau just passes one house so there is virtually no through traffic. The nearest road is a very tiny one right off the beaten track making it incredibly quiet here so that you mainly here the birds singing, the wind rustling the leaves of the trees and the laughter of your family and friends. Within the 27 acres there is a valley, streams and woodland all accessible to explore. Outside the chateau grounds and an easy walk away is a lake you can swim in and a tennis court. A short drive away is a fabulous little restaurant which makes divine pizza's amongst other dishes, and you can collect your food to takeaway too. The nearest village is about 2km away and you can use the bikes available at the chateau. Even though its phenomenally quiet here at the chateau, its not far to go to try out some high octane sports such as mountain climbing, white water rafting, canoeing, hang-gliding etc. If you want to try hot air ballooning this can be arranged with the balloon coming and landing on the front terrace to collect you for your flight! There is some wonderful sight-seeing around here from the medieval town of Argentat on the banks of the famous Dordogne river, where you can explore the night market during the summer, to the ancient 13th century Tours de Merle, which was a small citadel set on a tiny islet in a deep and mystical gorge. This region of Correze is unspoilt and filled with wonderful places to see, great places to eat and the people are very friendly.
Parking at the chateau is easy - its simplest if you have your own transport as this is off the beaten track, however there are several airports served by Ryanair as well as the bigger carriers and collection can be arranged. No pictures can really capture the ace-ness of this amazing place! I stayed here in april with about 16 people for a birthday celebration and I am still day dreaming about the fabulous wine soaked weekend. The chateau has the air of a down to earth fairy tale castle, with an amazing welcome and help and support with finding places to go/eat/buy delicious fresh produce from Ruth. The rooms all had so much character, light and views! Comfortable beds, spacious hanging out areas, open fires, a spectacular dining room and so much green space surrounding it. The local area is stunning and I definitely recommend a trip to Les Tours de Merle.
Overall the experience was one I am definitely planning to repeat, sooner rather than later.
Hi Helen, thank you so much for your super feedback. I am so happy that you loved it here as much as I do and look forward to seeing you back here again...

We came here for a joint 30th birthday celebration and it was even better than we could have hoped. Even for a large group such as ours (15/16 people) there were ample bedrooms and enough privacy when needed. The common areas are delightful; every nook and cranny there are little items to discover and look at, it really does feel like it might have 100, 200 years ago in parts, you really do get a flavour of the place as it must have been. Of course it is spotless, and there are TVs/DVD playetr etc should they be needed but also a fully tuned piano. Outdoors is lovely too, sadly didn't have the weather for swimming in the pool but the garden and kitchen again perfect. You can make a log fire too. Service was fantastic, Ruth is so helpful and can answer any question you have about the area, also just a lovely person. She can tell you about the restaurant down the road, which was excellent, I can recommend a visit. The plans for the grounds are brilliant, off-grid hobbit houses and it will be a true permaculture community when finished. Cannot recommend the place enough: a stunning building run by someone with the most admirable of ethics, in a truly picturesque part of France. Value per person also brilliant. Five stars.

From the moment I set foot in the grounds of this chateau I was enchanted! It is so off the beaten track, and has a tranquil and simple beauty that I appreciated every day. It was a perfect get away for me as I could walk through the woods, across the field to the streams, and immerse myself in nature and birdsong. This chateau is not one of those places where you feel you have to be so careful of everything, its quite down to earth and informal, although the main rooms are pretty big. On the inside its like a big family home, and from the back garden you really get to see its castle side with its pretty rapunzel tower. The views are lovely and mostly over its own grounds. It is very quiet. A great place for a large family or groups. The back garden and BBQ area is lovely and the pool area is really gorgeous - you so feel like Lord and Lady of the Manor when you look back at the chateau from there although it was too cold to swim when I was there. Its about 2km from the nearest village, and there's a great place for food including pizza, a short drive away. The area itself is wonderful, quite wild, with lots of beauty spots to visit like the Tours de Merle. There are lots of things to do within an easy drive and you can use the bikes to cycle around too. There's a great lake nearby for swimming and there are tennis courts too. A bit further away you can go skiing, white water rafting, canoeing, abseiling, hang-gliding. What I liked best is its 'out of the wayness' and what I liked least is that not every room has its own bathroom. I was here in very early spring and it was great to make huge fires in the walk-in fire places and I am sure it would be fantastic in the summer.
“warm, friendly, interesting and a lot of fun for us all!”

I think our experience at Eco Chateau was one of the best and most memorable of our holidays.
The people are so warm and welcoming, as if we were already friends, their pets were just as welcoming, the dogs took us for a walk!
A beautiful house and setting.
Lots of very exciting activities that the whole family could join in with, we took a 19 year old and a 12 year old and we were all entertained together! (quite rare)
High quality and relaxed teachers made us trust in our children's safety, (I never thought I'd feel good waving to my 12 year old daughter from the edge of cliff in a double hang glider don't ask how high!!
We know we have made friends for life and have had an amazing experience, often reflected on.
Thank you so much Ruth and all.
