Lovely and cozy small one-bedroom apartment in the heart of Lisbon within St. George Castle walls, the most historical Lisbon neighbourhood.
The apartment is at a private building from the 18th century, enviably located in the heart of the Castelo district, which is one of the oldest and most sought after areas of the city. Sitting high on the hill this neighbourhood benefits from fabulous views around every corner (although not from the apartment), cobbled streets and historic architecture.
There are many local bars and restaurants nearby including the world famous Chapitô with its stunning views and circus school, but the area is generally quiet during the night.
Come and feel the typical life of this old neighbourhood and enjoy an unique and picturesque experience in Lisbon... and do not be surprise if the castle peakocks come by next to your windows...
A crib is available for free for babies up to 3 years.
Breakfast for the first two days is included in the price as well as a welcome bottle of wine.
We need to know your arrival time at least 2 days in advance.
Standard check-in is after 14:00 and check-out is before 12:00. However we are flexible with check-in and check-out times, depending on previous or after bookings, so depending on your travel schedule, we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
Early (before 07:00) or late (after 22:00) arrivals will have an extra charge of 25.00 euros.
There is no TV in the apartment, we love a non-TV world but understand there’s a lot of people who don’t agree with this philosophy. However, try to enjoy your stay in a different way. Take advantage of these few days you're staying to explore out and relax in. We are sure you will find Lisbon very entertaining and have also a good collection of books available to read with background music. Really hope you won't even miss TV while here.

Lovely apartment situated within the castle walls. Good base for exploring Lisbon with a good selection of restaurants nearby. Ana welcomed us at the apartment and also left us some nice food and wine. A small friendly bar below the apartment but closed very early. Would definitely stay here again if back in Lisbon. Not suitable for elderly/disabled as have to climb a steep flight of stairs.

The apartment is lovely and cozy, located within the walls of Castelo Sao Jorge. Ana stocked the fridge with plenty of goodies and had fresh bread and sweets ready for us. There was plenty of coffee and tea in the pantry so we never had to go out for breakfast. Ana also told us about several great places to visit and was so helpful when we asked for restaurant recommendations.
Our stay in Lisbon was unforgettable, thanks in large part to ana's hospitality and her beautifully furnished apartment. Getting out into town requires a lot of walking up and down cobbled streets, so be prepared for a cardio experience.

Situado junto al Castillo de San Jorge, cuenta con todo lo necesario para sentirte como en casa de un amigo: desde el mobiliario hasta los disco de fado, y como no las acertadas recomendaciones de ana.

This apartment is cosy, comfy and beautifully decorated - with a nice comfy bed. We enjoyed the view onto a quaint street with the cat on the windowsill and the turrets of the castle. You will feel at home immediately.

There are so many things that were perfect about our stay in this apartment. First of all, Ana is the perfect hostess! She provided us with a refrigerator full of goodies, she guided us on what to see, where to eat and was overall very accommodating. The location of the apartment was perfect - just inside the castle wall. It was beautifully decorated and modern even though you feel like you are taken back in time. Staying there truly makes you feel like you are a local. We even loved the peacocks outside our window! We will stay there again and again!

The apartment is located at an incredibly nice place, uniquely tucked in between the castle walls, with the castle tower right outside the bedroom window. Besides that it is clear that Pierre and ana spent a lot of effort into making it a very cosy home away from home, with all the details in the apartment. In short, I can absolutely recommend the apartment as it will be a unique way to experience Lisbon!

This is a lovely small apartment which makes an ideal base for exploring Lisbon. It is in a cobbled street of characterful properties, within the Castle walls. Everything that you may need is provided including a thoughtful welcome pack of food and wine. Ana and Pierre do all they can to ensure a perfect stay. So much nicer than staying in an impersonal hotel.

We enjoyed our stay very much at the castelo apartment. The location is beautiful, and the place is charming, not to mention ana's great hospitality, she and her partner Pierre practically give the best service one could expect, from filling the fridge with goods, getting toys to our toddler, leaving a local mobile phone at our disposal as well as public transport re-chargeable tickets to ease our trips across town. Although it was a small place for a couple with a baby, we felt great being there, as ana even took the trouble to arrange a babysitter, letting us enjoy our evenings out. Most recommended!

Cozy and romantic appartment behind the walls of the moorish Castelo de São Jorge, next to wondeful alfama restaurants and Fado houses. We enjoyed every minute of being here: dont need any guidebook, just wander around and soak into endless attractions of Lisboa.
Very helpful and friendly host! We hope to come back again, I definitely recommend this place!

Although the apartment is a little on the small side it is perfectly formed. Ana has designed the apartment with style and a great use of space which gives the apartment a light and airy feel. Lots of home comforts which help you to settle in right away. Ana met us at the apartment bringing with her fresh bread and flowers. Ana provides enough breakfast items for a few days as well as a bottle of local red wine which is such a thoughtful thing to do. I would highly recommend this apartment to those looking for a little respite from the bustling city of Lisbon.Only one word of caution - the shower unit becomes very hot and can cause burns if you touch it.
A peaceful, romantic apartment with peacocks and castle right ou

Ana is a wonderful host, she thinks of everything and has made the apartment a real haven. It is small but feels spacious as things are well laid out and uncluttered. There is a guidebook about Lisbon there and plenty of good reading material left by previous guests. The location is good for wandering the small streets of the alfama.

As our stay in Lisbon was short, we stayed in style. Ana's apartment is located within the Castle walls and was absolutely perfect! It is centrally located with shops and restaurants close by and wonderful views! Within walking distances of all there is to see in the area! Ana was a most gracious host! Ana met us at the apartment and made us feel right at home. We had fabulous bread, cheese and fruits to eat, along with a wonderful bottle of wine! We highly recommend this most charming apartment for your stay in Lisbon! We certainly intend to return and we will be staying at ana's!

Lisbon is amazing. This apartment is amazing. The location is amazing. The price is amazing. Pretty much everything about our experience was perfect. Our hosts did an incredible job making sure every detail was attended to, from the wine and cell phone for local usage upon arrival, to arranging a meeting with a local contemporary artist to do a studio visit. It's small, but for two people, really excellent. We looked at hotel prices in the neighborhood, and were even more thrilled we'd found this jewel. Thanks for a fantastic stay.

Ok to be honest the apartment is not big, but who needs big, when you are located in such a beautiful part of the city within the Castle walls. You can feel yourself transported back through the centuries. Having said this, the fitout is lovely and the bed is comfy as.
The owners are very clearly concerned to ensure their visitors enjoy their stay as they take great care with very much appreciated little touches. A bowl of fresh fruit, a bottle of wine, lots of nibbles and drinks in the fridge, bus passes, even a cell phone in case we needed it. Wow, we were impressed!
Well done ana and Pierre, you were a wonderful introduction to Lisbon and her people. Would we stay again? Without hesitation.

The apartment was a joy to stay in - very well designed to make full use of the space, and very comfortably furnished. We particularly appreciated the lack of street noise and the feeling that we had a peaceful refuge at the end of the day, where we could just chill out and enjoy ourselves. The welcome package is a nice touch, and the fact that we didn't have to worry about anything like toiletries etc. Lisbon is a fabulous place to visit and explore, with extremely friendly people, and we would definitely go back to the apartment again.

Starting with the information during the enquiry stage right through to check in ana is jsut fantastic. The apartment is amazing, and it comes with the little extras one does not expect, fresh milk, fresh bread, yoghurt and a nespresso machine. An awesome bottle of wine top all that. The location is perfect and it is quite in the evening. If you are looking for a romantic aprtment thsi it.

Beautiful apartment, Great Location, very clean, small yet very ample and efficient and comfortable. Peacocks out the window were a deligthful and fun but not disturbing distraction. Ana and Pierre went way beyond our expectations in accomodating transportation to our next destination and delivering a fleece jacket left behind. We would return in a heartbeat!

We were visiting friends who are living in Lisbon and wanted to have a space of our own as well as a place to welcome them. The apartment is in an incredibly picturesque area of the Castelo, slightly removed from the action on a side street and free of noise. It was impeccably clean and very comfortable. Ana had thought of everything we might need and was available in case we had any questions; she was lovely and her English was very good. In addition, she has excellent taste; the apartment decor is lovely. We found the price incredibly reasonable for the services offered.
A magical place to stay in Lisbon

I could not recommend this apartment highly enough. It is run by a delightful couple who welcomed us and were very helpful throughout the four nights of our stay. The apartment itself is in the perfect position for exploring Lisbon, surrounded by nice bars, restaurants and views of the castle. It is on a quiet street away from the tourist bustle and at the foot of the stairs is a bar run and frequented by very friendly locals. The interior is very comfortable and beautifully decorated. It is possible to cook in the kitchen and we were pleasantly surprised to find the fridge full of good food on arrival. With this apartment, we had the freedom of a hotel with the heart of a home.

We loved this quaint and charming apartment in the heart of the historic area within the castle walls. The owner met us when we arrived and immediately we felt so much at home. This apartment is not only immaculate but beautuful and cozy touches are everywhere- artwork, books, antiques, plants etc. Our hosts even had wine, cheese, freshmade bread as well as other snacks there for us when we arrived. It is evident that they love this apartment and have done everything to make your stay very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you might need. The apartment is located on a quiet street. There is a cafe next door which was not only very convenient for a snack, but the people that work there were so nice and helpful when we asked questions about the area. The combination of such a charming apartment with hosts that went way out of their way to make our stay so enjoyable made our stay in Lisbon the highlight of our trip to Europe.

If you want to rent an apartment in the oldest part of Lisboa, then look no further than this charming place by the castle in alfama. The location is deluxe, the owners are extremely helpful, & they are great people. Also Hugo's cafe, literally next door, resolves your snack, coffee, & wine issues. Really a perfect set-up for either a short or long term stay. Hopefully, long term, as Lisboa is a fantastic city & you would do yourself a favor by spending some time there.

Ana was a generous and helpful host, the apartment was lovely and the location is perfect. I love Lisbon anyway, but the castle area is ideal because it is quiet, friendly and cooler in midsummer than other parts of the city. I would recommend this apartment to anyone, particularly couples needing a relaxing break as we did.

We arrived much earlier then we planned (6am), in a strange city and during a downpour. Our contact, Maria, was just waking up when we phoned her. She instructed us to take a taxi to her. She graciously welcomed these two tired, cold, and soaking wet travelers into her home, offered us coffee, and gave us our keys. Our castelo apartment was cozy and homey, with simple yet beautiful furnishings, there was fruit, yogurt, and coffee in the refrigerator. Plus, it had the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. The man who owned the cafe downstairs, Hugo, was so helpful and kind. He gave us directions, advice on where to go, and even invited us to join him for drinks. The neighborhood had lots of tourists, but they were outnumbered by the locals, it still felt like a real neighborhood. Nights were very quiet and atmospheric. Mornings were quiet as well, aside from the occasional honk from a roaming peacock. When it came time to leave, Hugo gave us a hug and two ceramic roosters, the symbol of Lisbon. "Home" is the best word to describe this place, for I can't recall being so comfortable away from my own home.

Magical hilltop stay
Left on 11/12/2009 for a stay in June 2009 | A FlipKey verified reviewer
While it wasn't my first choice (the apartment I thought I wanted was already booked), I couldn't have been happier with the Castelo apartment, and can't wait to go back. It was bigger and brighter than the pictures I'd seen, and both serene and cosy, with wonderful design touches. Charming without being fussy, and sparse without being cold. Lovely view from the French balcony, both of the tiny street the apartment is on (no cars!) and of the towers of the Sao Jorge castle. Its hilltop location and the narrow cobbled streets make it less suitable for those with strollers or with difficulty walking.
