Bairro Alto dates back to the 16th century and is characterized by its small workshops and restaurants. By day, it is a quiet sleepy area (recently pedestrianized); by night the area becomes alive and is a popular place to dine and drink away the early hours.
There are three public car parks within 3 minutes walking distance.
The apartment is a short walking distance from the other picturesque neighborhoods of Baixa and Alfama, where you can find the historic Castle (S. Jorge). It is also walking distance to the subway and train stations that can take you to the beautiful beaches around Cascais.
This apartment is also very close to Bica and Chiado.
In Bica you can find the Bica funicular that connects Bairro Alto with Cais do Sodré (where you can catch the train that can take you to the beautiful beaches around Cascais).
Chiado is considered the most beautiful area of historic Lisbon. It was a place of residence of the Portuguese royalty and of the political and cultural elites. Nearby are located the theatre S. Luis and the opera S. Carlos. A little further is Camões Square (Praça de Camões), next to Bairro Alto, picturesque but raffish. Part of Lisbon's nightlife is concentrated in this quarter, where you can hear 'fados' being sung in some restaurants and cafés. Chiado and Bairro Alto are where locals and tourists meet, with elegant hotels, old cafés and the best international fashion shops.
A 5 minute walk takes you to the Rossio, in Baixa, and to the Elevador da Gloria which takes you to Avenida da Liberdade. In the other direction, you can find Praça do Comércio, centre of the old Portuguese empire on the river Tagus (Rio Tejo), close to shops, restaurants, cafes, banks, cash machines, public transport (including subway Baixa/Chiado station and electric trams) 24 hour taxi stands, etc.
The nearest airport is Lisbon International Airport at 12 kilometers ; the nearest railway station is International Station of Santa Apolónia at 1 kilometer.

The check in was very smooth, carried out very professionably by Felipe for whom nothing was too much trouble. The apartment itself seemed considerably better than the pictures on the website. It was very well appointed, appropriately equipped andnd tastefully furnished. The only problem is that there is a bar opened up in the street directly below the bedroom window. Triple glazing in the bedroom blocks out all the noise completely but you still need to have some of the other windows in the apartment open in the summer time, so if you are a light sleeper you might not get the rest you are expecting. On the other hand, if you choose an apartment in central Lisbon, one can assume that you will take a bit of street noise into account. The curtain in the living room desparately needs fixing. Otherwise the neighbours from across the street can see right in! Other than that, a beautiful place provided for a great holiday. Highly recommended.
Felipe is a great asset to our company and thinks "customer service" in a very caring way. Glad you appreciated it and that you had a true Lisbon experience, which is what we set out for. Bairro Alto is, as you very well say, a quarter with its very own characteristics, partying being one; restaurants bars clubs wine bars are every other door so if you want to be where the fun is this is the quarter for you, as per most travelling guides. The blind in the living room will be replaced. Thank you again for your comments. TravelingtoLisbon team

We enjoyed our stay . The apartment was very well provided with attention to detail. The exterior windows would benefit with curtains for privacy. The loud arguing specially on weekends did not bother us because were delightfully very tired from so much walking up and down.
Miguel gave us the perfect introduction to Lisbon and helped smooth down our stay .
Thanks for your wonderful review. We are thrilled you had such a good time and pleasant experience.
Thanks also for the recommendation related to the curtains, we'll certainly look into. Hearing these kinds of suggestions from actual clients are exactly what we're always looking for, as a way to improve our product \ service.
I look forward to seeing you again in Lisbon.

“Legal, porém a falta de ventiladores atrapalhou um pouco.”

Bom dia. A estadia no apto foi agradável. A localização é excelente e a pessoa responsável pela recepção foi muito amável. Porém, apesar de haver no apto 3 ventiladores, apenas 1 funcionava e fazia mais de 30ºC. As roupas de cama não estavam adequadamente limpas.

The apartment is nice, well located, clean, but the area is so noise at night. It needs also air conditioning cause it is hot in side, but if you open the window the noise is so high that you can even listen to tv.
So the overall is average, and a bit expensive.
“Great location for touring, not sleeping [over disco]”

In terms of location, this apartment is two blocks from the 28E tram and the Bica funicular. Really good. But it is also over a disco that shakes the apartment. We were able to sleep in the bedroom which had a double glazed window, but the rest of the apartment was impossible on the nights the disco was open.
Now if you are young and intent on nitelife, this apartment may work for you.
We also had problems with fans that didn't work [unexpected heat made them necessary] and the iron had a frayed cord. It was never replaced.
I'd have been happier with my first choice, which later became unavailable. This apartment was more of a compromise than I'd have liked.
