Additional Location Information
The house is located in the hamlet of Golobi, halfway up the mountain Matujur, just before the village of Livek. There are numerous walks which can be done right from the house; from a gentle stroll through the alpiine meadows and pastures that surround the house, to a more challenging walk to the top of Matujur or down to Kobarid. If you enjoy mountain biking there is a mountain bike park 5 minutes away and there are no ends of moutiain bike trails that criss cross Matajur.
It is also possible to cycle all the way down to the coast along the mountain ridge which starts in Livek and continues to to Trieste.
The entire area surrounding the house was part of the Italian trench network in World War 1 and its not unusal to still find relics from this time. If you are really interested in the history of this time, my neightbours run a small musuem dedicated to the history of World War 1 and have many artifacts from this time, they have found over the years.
The Italian border is a 5 minute drive away and its possible to drive down to Italy from Livek to the Natistone River for afternoon swimming and gelato in the town of San Pietro de Natistone. There are also two many too count fantatic restaurants over that way.
The nearest grocery stores are in Kobarid (10 minutes), Tolmin (20 minutes) or Cividale del Fruli (20 minutes). However, there is a grocery bus, which carries a surprisingly large range of products which visits every day but Sunday. And, local farmers often drop by selling their fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, wines and olive oil.

A bit furher a field, the best swimming spot on the Soca can be found down valley in the pretty village of Kanal.
