Additional Location Information

The cottage is on a sheep farm in a tranquil setting in the hills (initially approached by a private road) above the pretty village of Llanbedr, which is within walking distance via foothpaths and woods. The popular Nantcol waterfalls and nature trail are a 10min walk via public footpath. Spectacular views of the nearby Rhinog mountains.

A short drive from historic Harlech town with medieval castle and Internationally-renowned St David’s golf course, and the bustling promenade resort town of Barmouth - both have stations on the Cambrian Coast Railway Line, as does Llanbedr itself. World famous attractions within a half hour drive include Portmeirion Italianate village (famed for filming The Prisoner), and Ffestiniog Mountain & Welsh Highland Steam Railways, Llechwedd Slate Caverns. A little further away is the magnificent Castle at Caernarfon, the walled city of Conway, famous Bodnant Gardens, and the Centre for Alternative Technolgy popular with children of all ages!

Excellent sea bathing at nearby beaches: Shell Island, Llandanwg and magnificent Harlech Beach (all within 4miles). Slightly further away are lovely beaches such as Black Rock Sands on the Llyn peninsular.

Spectacular views of the nearby Rhinog Mountains with beautiful walks to the mountains or Llanbedr village from the door.

The summit of Mount Snowdon which is often visible from the farm, is a popular train ride or climb if you're fit, for our visitors. Snowdon is the highest mountain in Britain outside Scotland. To the South lies the famous mountain of Cader Idris.

Other nearby attractions
Harlech Castle, Ardudwy Theatre, Llanfair Slate Caverns, Fairbourne Steam Railway, Talyllyn Railway, Royal St David's Golf Club, Sygun Copper Mine.

Many guests stay in the cottage for the excellent bird watching on the farm (50+ species). And for the peaceful setting, ideal for children (when supervised).

Wonderful walks on extensive footpaths and mountain walks directly from the door, including the old drovers road to Pont Scethin and eventually to London, which skirts the farm. Our guests have explored the Wales Coastal Path and the Ardudwy Way, which both pass nearby.

Llanbedr village has 2 public houses, several shops and is served by a bus route and train station, but a car is most convenient for the 2 mile journey to the cottage.
