At Buckingham Palace Road you won’t need a castle to feel like a king. Gaze from the vast windows of this luxuriant, two bedroom, three bathroom apartment down upon the masses and the sprawling metropolis with impunity. Such fabulous views are sure to create an elevated sense of status, but you’re not likely to be lording it over any dirty rascals below in high class Belgravia. These salubrious streets of stately mansions, elegant white stucco houses and pretty mews terraces are the cream of the crop, and home to some of the city’s wealthiest financiers, heirs and film stars.
City Lights, Business Nights
Your host is an Egyptian architect whose jet-set lifestyle sees him involved in creating buildings in both London and Egypt. His understanding of form and superb design is apparent in his striking home, which he chose for its floor to ceiling windows, and the way they fill the space with golden light in the evenings.
Paved with Gold
From the clever and subtle colour scheme to the exquisite Persian rugs, it’s all very smooth indeed here. Sashay around the smart open plan living area, running your palm over a glass swivel coffee table, a 20th century wooden dining table, or over the sculptural forms of a red modernist arm chair. Finally melt into the plump upholstery of a tan leather sofa, and contemplate a huge and extraordinary oil painting hanging on a backdrop of geometric wallpaper. Or wander through to the contemporary kitchen and take something chilled from the mammoth chrome fridge to sip while watching the sun set over the city. Along the hall, a minimalist double bedroom with modernist furniture and more funky wallpaper continues the on-trend theme, while an airy master bedroom with ensuite ensures all will be thoroughly charmed. To top things off there are no less than three gleaming bathrooms, all stuffed full, of course, with our White Company toiletries and fluffy white towels.
Belgravia is one of the wealthiest districts in the world. Jewellery, designer clothes and objets d’art glitter in the windows of some of the most exclusive boutiques in the city in neighbouring Knightsbridge, Chelsea and South Kensington. Enjoy a stroll over the lawns of one of the nearby Royal Parks, or sup drinks at one of the swanky bars near Sloane Square before an evening of highbrow entertainment at the Royal Court Theatre. If you want to throw some uncut diamonds into the mix, the grittier sparkle of the West End is less than 20 minutes by tube.
