Additional Location Information
Kensington is an affluent area of West London with Kensington High Street at its commercial heart. The best known part of this Borough is perhaps the museum district of South Kensington, housing the Victoria and Albert, Natural and Science Museums. The Royal Albert Hall is here, adding its royal presence to this pleasant, green part of London, that is not plagued by quite as much hustle and bustle as some of it’s neighbours. Bordered by Notting Hill, Knightsbridge and Chelsea, Kensington is extremely well-served by transport links and this area is also a good one for walking in. Kensington Gardens are lovely to amble through, taking you up to Notting Hill, or all the way through to Hyde Park. Kensington Gardens is without doubt one of the lovliest of the Royal parks. It has a genteel, delightful feel to it and has so much to recommend it. See if you can find the famous Peter Pan statue here, much loved and visited by children from all over the globe. He’s a bit elusive…but that’s all part of the magic…
Kensington also has quite an interesting history of putting on fairs on hosting exhibitions, The Olympia Exhibition Centre in West Kensington being an excellent example of this. Opening in 1886, it was said to be the largest building the Kingdom covered by one span of iron and glass.
With shops, parks and museums galore, this really is one of the most attractive and convenient London boroughs to relax in and enjoy. With quick and easy access to it’s fabulous neighbouring areas, and so many cultural and entertainment delights of it’s own, it deserves high praise. Stroll around to your hearts content, or hop on a bus. Take your pick of the many pubs and restaurants for a spot of lunch…whether it be by day or night, you will not be disappointed with everything Kensington has to offer.
