Neon lights gleaming through grey winter evenings, long-legged ladies strutting their stuff in dim alleyways, instruments of pain and pleasure ‘neath scarlet awnings... That said, should the delights of the flesh begin to pall, Soho has evolved to satisfy the full range of human desires. This is where the media boys and girls come to cafes to write their novels, where scruffy-haired web designers rub shoulders with West End chorus girls grabbing a quick bite to eat before returning to their dressing rooms.
Brewer Street is one of Soho’s main arteries, and our one double-bedroomed home combines faded voluptuousness with all the mod cons you could possibly desire.
Our host and hostess are Soho-ites to the core, with lifestyles the rest of us can only envy. He’s an entrepreneur, clean cut, well-travelled, who’s been ensnared by the lure of the seedy. She’s a journalist with a serious food habit. Between them, they’ve created a home that’s darkly glamorous; from the violently-coloured liquids in the host’s collection of decanters, to the kitchen’s lingering scent of truffle oil, this pair know how to enjoy themselves.
From the moment your foot hits the staircase and you creak your way into the scarlet embrace of the sitting room, you’ll be falling for Brewer Street, never has a home been so immediately intoxicating. Survey the high ceilings, the antique furniture, the sumptuous curtains, and if you feel a little bit proud of yourself, it’s perfectly understandable.
The flat is newly renovated, but that’s not to say the character’s been wiped away. The floorboards squeak, the windows clunk, and there’s even an original open fireplace for when the London chill begins to bite. When sloth takes you in her arms, drift up the stairs for a soak in the bath, before retreating to the spacious, peaceful double bedroom. Luxuriate in our five star bed linen, before closing the curtains and… well, we won’t ask…
No Rest For The Wicked
Whether you’re spending your cash, or just indulging in a bit of window shopping, Soho’s range of funky boutiques will have plenty on display for you to covet. Carnaby Street still swings, if a little more sedately than it did in the sixties, and the great department stores of Oxford Street are within a short walk.
For those wishing to indulge in a little light lustfulness, well, this is Soho, where all things are on offer. That said, despite the peep shows, the area is not without its romance. Stumble to your front door as the sun rises and watch the watery light reflecting off the cobbles, or duck into one of the many restaurants and cafes and get gluttonous with some extravagant cream cakes.
In fact, the only sin you probably won’t experience is wrath. Until, that is, we ask you to return the keys…
