Perfect peace doesn’t come around very often. But here at Tite Street II, there’s a rich sense of stillness. From the deep plush of the carpets to the graceful furniture, this is a home that surrounds you in comfort. The walls are creamy, the sofa clad in grey velvet. You soon realise that nothing here is garish or incongruous. Beyond these four walls, you’ll find that life on the King’s Road can be taken at a gentler pace if you want. Relax in one of the many excellent coffee shops nearby, or turn off your phone and retreat to Chelsea Physic Garden, just a few steps away from your front door.
Hush my child
Your hosts have a young child, and they divide their time between Tite Street II and their second home in the countryside. They crave serenity, and have found it in this wonderful place. You’ll notice that there’s no TV in the main sitting room, for their evenings are spent entertaining friends, reading, or just enjoying peaceful privacy.
Sunshine filters into the sitting room of Tite Street II through the windows that line an entire wall. Up on the fourth floor, you’re sharing the treetops with the birds, and in the evening the sunset views are quite spectacular. Listen to soothing music on the wall mounted CD player, dine at the table (which seats six) or nip to the smaller sitting room next door and watch TV from the petal pink French day bed.
If you’ve some work to catch up on, then you’ll find a useful study half way up the stairs. Then, once you’re feeling soothed in spirit, rest your weary self upon the master bedroom’s super king-sized bed. Next door, the ensuite features a powerful rain shower and our delicious White Company toiletries.
Turn it up
Ready to re-enter the fray? You’re close to the Thames, or turn the other way for the swinging King’s Road. Here, you’ve dining options from a humble panini all the way up to three Michelin starred cuisine from Gordon Ramsay, and the shopping’s just tremendous.
Literary buffs might also be intrigued to hear that Oscar Wilde lived nearby, at 34 Tite Street. Catch the latest talked-about play at the Royal Court Theatre, or zoom into town. The tube from Sloane Square to Piccadilly Circus takes around fifteen minutes.
