Like the finest cuisine, this is a home built from the best possible raw materials, and assembled with talent, flair and skill. Chelsea Embankment is a home that satisfies one’s desire for texture and sustenance alike. With tall windows looking out across the river and décor that mixes the modern and the antique, this is a home that stimulates your appetite for life. You’ll relish your proximity to the swinging King’s Road, with its sophisticated bars and enticing boutiques. Like a great meal, Chelsea Embankment is both luxurious and entirely satisfying.
Your hosts are a young family who love to eat. Indeed, it would be no exaggeration to say that they spend their lives planning their next meal, as your host ran a catering company and is a self-confessed foodie. They adore dining out, and, as you’ll discover, they’ve a truly stupendous library of cookbooks
Three course meal
Chelsea Embankment has three floors for you to savour. Begin with the bedrooms – the master suite holds a four-poster in rich wood, swathed with drapes of beige. Its substantial ensuite is icy white, with a walk in shower and mirrored walls. The single child’s room is filled with books and toys, while the twin bedroom’s yummy in moreish mocha.
But be sure to save yourself for the main course, the spectacular sitting room and the adjoining drawing room. Tall windows flood these two rooms with sunshine, and look up to see delicate and detailed original cornicing. Garnished with art deco silverware and wonderfully comfortable sofas, this is space to savour.
If you needed any more space, there’s a self-contained flat down in the basement. The home of a very lucky au pair, you’ll find twin beds, a sofa, and a bathroom, making this the cherry on top for anyone who enjoys a bit of well-earned privacy.
Tea? Coffee? Champagne?
You’re just steps from the King’s Road, a paradise for cafes, shops and restaurants. Drop in on Gordon Ramsay’s triple Michelin restaurant, and then walk off any over-indulgence along the Thames towpath, or in nearby Chelsea Physic Garden. And if a trip to the food hall at Fortnum’s is on the cards, the tube from Sloane Square to Green Park takes less than ten minutes.
