Spread across five floors, Hobury Street combines glamour with discretion; true beauty never needs to shout. Outside this is a picture book perfect traditional Georgian townhouse that’ll satisfy all your longings for historic London. Inside, and the story is rather more contemporary, with a brand new kitchen, stylishly pared back living spaces and a garden that’s simply longing for guests.
All of this, and you’re just moments from King’s Road, with its zillions of boutiques, artisan cafes, delis and chocolatiers, and all sorts of enticing restaurants. Stroll by the Thames or simply shut the front door and turn off the phone; here’s a home where it pays to live in the moment.
You’d never know it, but your hosts haven’t been long in Hobury Street. Drawn by the tall windows and the ravishing light, they adore the sense of community in this blessed corner of the city. They’re originally from Lebanon and France, and you can see their refinement in every detail of their home.
Now and then
Your hosts spend much of their time down in the basement of Hobury Street, and it’s here that you’ll find the open plan living space that's the hub of the home. The high spec kitchen diner faces out onto the paved back garden, while at the other end is the squashy corner sofa and home cinema. Upstairs you're spoiled with another whole floor of grown up living space, with the formal sitting room and another TV area.
The master suite’s on the first floor, with a king sized bed and a flat screen tv. Shield yourself from the early morning rays that come streaming in through the floor to ceiling windows with a set of chic French shutters, or take a refreshing dip in the deep tub of the pale en suite. You’ve two bedrooms on the second floor, a double and a children’s twin bursting with stuffed animals, toys and books. Next door's the slick grey and white family bathroom, then it’s up once more to the attic, and another double bedroom; its en suite bathroom clad in mosaic tiles.
Stop the clock
All it takes is a saunter down King’s Road and you’ll quickly lose track of time, you’ve so many pleasurable diversions, you may not remember to stop. Designer boutiques, cosy cafes and some high end dining make this the area of choice for the capital’s upper crust residents, so don’t be surprised if you spot a familiar face or two picking up a pint of milk. And if you want to head into town, the tube from Sloane Square to Piccadilly Circus takes around fifteen minutes.
