Take a seat and marvel at one of the finest homes in all of London town. Elegant as a finely bred lady, and dashing as the most eligible of suitors, Brechin Place is a study in class. High ceilings, antique furniture and even a chandelier give this home a stately charm – while a pretty kitchen and two modern bathrooms ensure that you’ll not be wanting for twenty first century comfort. Walk to the grand museums, take a turn about Kensington Gardens, and then perhaps take tea in Harrods? You’re tantalisingly close to the designer boutiques of Knightsbridge, and we’ve heard that lace is back into fashion…
Your host has lived in Brechin Place for over thirty years. A busy professional, he and his family divide their time between London and their country home in rural Oxfordshire.
The drawing room is truly sumptuous, with tall windows and the original fireplace and cornicing completely intact. Admire your host’s landscapes, select a book from his extensive library, and then you’ve a choice – read upon the pea-green sofa or out on the balcony. With lovely objects at every turn you’ll find it hard to tear yourself away. But when you do, you’ll discover a cottagey kitchen filled with blue and white china, a table seating four, and views down into the street below. And, it may sound strange to say that a cloakroom door will render you speechless – but when you set eyes upon it, we know you’ll understand.
There’s something a little lavish about the master bedroom, its floral fabrics and creamy carpet whisper ‘luxe’ and the ensuite is delicate in grey marble. There’s a further sunny single with another original fireplace, and the guest bathroom is lemon yellow, and filled with our White Company toiletries.
Right outside your front door is one of the smartest parts of the city. Choose between the shops and restaurants of Kensington, Chelsea and Knightsbridge, and if you want to add to your own antique collection you’re delightfully close to Christie’s. And for those whose business takes them into town, the tube from Gloucester Road to Piccadilly Circus takes ten minutes.
