On the picturesque north bank of the river lies Hammersmith, and with its abundance of parks, theatres and restaurants practically on your doorstep, it’s no feat to while away your entire stay within the borough. Nestled into one of the area’s quiet, blossom-covered, streets you’ll find this family home, spread over no less than five stories. With oodles of space both inside and out, children can run in the garden, zipping down the slide, whilst you relax in the palatial sitting room, pondering your next move. The buzz of the West End? You’re in luck, it’s few tube stops away.
Bringing up baby
Your hosts are a welcoming pair, both of whom have worked in London since graduating, she's a training midwife he's in finance. When they’re at home, in London or Hampshire, they run around after children going to choir practice or gymnastic clubs. But when all are packed into bed, they love to reclaim the house and entertain friends, or just chill out, in the fabulous space they’ve created.
The grown-up sitting room, festooned with family photographs, beautifully mixes Georgian splendour and contemporary chic- no hints of children here. The sprawling kitchen boasts both a special small table and chairs for the young and an eight-person dining table for the grown-ups, the concertina doors lead out into a garden, equipped with a climbing frame to entertain everyone. Then scamper down to the playroom and explore a plethora of fun, including a drum kit for those budding musicians.
Up on the first floor is the master suite, with its king size sleigh bed and stunning vast windows. Plus a gleaming ensuite bathroom with limestone tiles, our White Company toiletries, and fluffy white towels. The second floor has a double bedroom decked out in fine antique furniture, complete with writing desk, while further down the hall are a children’s twin, single room, and bathroom- stuffed with toys and dressing up boxes. Up in the rafters is a further child’s room and bathroom, perfect to hide a midnight feast, well away from grown-up ears.
