Get ready to start celebrating, because here’s a home that’s leagues ahead of the rest. You’re just a stone’s throw from Stamford Bridge, and like the boys in blue, Hilary Close has a venerable past. And, like them, it has recently benefitted from a huge revamp! Now, every bedroom has an ensuite, while the back of the house has been opened up onto the newly redesigned garden. You’re just a walk from the river, as well as the bars and boutiques of nearby King’s Road. Yes, we’ll warrant that this home will be winning every trophy on offer.
Your hosts are from Germany and the USA, now they, and their three boys commute between London, Sussex, and the continent. They’re just in the process of setting up a restaurant – while making sure they find plenty of time to check out the competition.
Recently renovated and extremely luxurious, Hilary Close really is a class act. The sitting room is traditional with touches of something a little more modern. The original fireplace and parquet floor lend the space grandeur, while the colourful rug and curios keep the room homely and welcoming. The formal dining room seats six beneath an enchanting Asian mural, or, if you prefer to eat more informally, head to the back of the house. Torres himself couldn’t score any higher than the enormous kitchen, where glass doors fold back to reveal the large garden, with sun loungers and outdoor furniture. The cherry blossom-clad master bedroom is on the first floor, with a super king-sized bed and a balcony, and next door, a sunny ensuite with two showers and a vast bath. There are five further bedrooms, all with their own bathrooms- among them two double cabin beds, a lemony single, and a bright double. In the basement, you’ll find an entertainment room with a pull-down double bed. Or, open the toy box and put on the TV- with a Wii, X-Box and Sky, you may not see the kids for a while.
Kick a ball around in one of your lovely local parks (you’ve a few to choose between) and then retire to the Harewood Arms for a well-earned pint. You’re one minute from Fulham Broadway’s shops and restaurants, and close to the glitz of King’s Road. Then, it’s on to Kensington, perhaps, or transfer into town. The tube from Fulham Broadway to Green Park takes around twenty minutes.
