Lambton Place 5 Bedroom Vacation House in Notting Hill
One two three
Effortless style, timeless elegance. It seems easy – but to create a home this beautiful takes passion, flair and a lot of hard work. The good news? Someone’s already done it, so now you can enjoy the results. Here, there’s soft prettiness, warm spice, and a swooping staircase that’ll leave you breathless in more ways than one. Outside, Notting Hill is a villagey corner of the city with parks, restaurants, boutiques and bars in enticing abundance, not to mention Portobello Road market. Whether you’re biting into a cupcake or sunning by the Serpentine, the question is - why didn’t you come here sooner?
Your hostess was, until very recently, a milliner, right now she’s focussing on her three young children. Your host works in marketing, and this lively lot spend much of their spare time bounding around Kensington Gardens.
Life, love and laughter
The heart of Lambton Place is its large kitchen, which shines in black and white. The fridge is big enough to feed an army, and should your soldiers require something warmer, there’s even a Nespresso machine. Then it’s on through to the dining room, where a glass roof pours light over seating for eight. The garden’s a real sun trap, and on warm nights you can throw open the dining room doors and use it as a whole extra living space.
The cosy orange sitting room is down in the basement. Film buffs will love the projector, while the modern fireplace is literally hot but figuratively very cool. The kids have a playroom all to themselves, which can be converted into a useful double bedroom – and there’s even an ensuite. Up that marvellous staircase you’ll find the master bedroom, with a super-king sized bed, sumptuous drapes and an enormous TV. The ensuite is through an archway, and has one of the best showers we’ve ever seen. There are three more bedrooms, a single, a kids’ triple, and a luxurious double up in the eaves. The family bathroom’s glossy in cherry red, and the loft double has its own neat shower room.
On and on and on
Gather armfuls of roses at your local florist, stop for a cappuccino on Notting Hill Gate, then amble on to Holland Park, or over to the seemingly endless shops of Westfield. You’re surrounded by friendly local bistros and gastropubs, and some very trendy bars. Or, head into town – the tube from Notting Hill Gate to Oxford Circus takes eight minutes.
