Discover a smart Victorian three bedroom, three bathroom house that is an exercise in style. Here, tasty 20th century design furniture, original paintings, and uplifting colour combinations beguile the vision, while a grand piano, and a state of the art Sonos music system encourage the curative qualities of good aesthetics to reach all the senses. With the apollonian gardens of Hyde Park a mere stones throw away, and the swanky boutiques, and upscale cafes of nearby Chelsea, we’re happy to report the cult of beauty is alive and flourishing in Kensington.
Sense and Sensibility
Your hosts, whose French and Belgian heritage has influenced the chic and confident styling of their home, are both self-confessed aesthetes. But their passion for the arts and music is balanced with a healthy dose of science. She works as a research scientist, and he is a successful serial entrepreneur. They met at a wedding in France and travelled from Paris to London, where they now live with their two young sons.
The House Beautiful
A private lift whisks you up to the third floor and opens straight in to the spacious hall- the height of glamour. Up a short flight of stairs is the dynamic and eloquent sitting room- the piece de la resistance in this stylish home. Here, dark floors and pale walls are animated by the tonal reds and blues of upholstered floral chairs, modernist coffee tables, and striking, original art work, while Murano glass chandeliers, and a zebra skin rug throw in a sense of cool decadence. Recline gorgeously on the 1950s style sofa, flick through one of many glossy tomes, or attempt an Erik Satie composition on the antique grand piano, and soak up the splendour.
When it's time for supper, rustle up something artful in the contemporary kitchen- a haven of warmth, and wooden surfaces. A window through to the dining room engenders effortless socialising, while a cosy, diner style breakfast area makes this a space in which everyone will want to hang out.
Art for Art’s Sake

Any decent art crawl will begin with The Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens, and proceed to the nearby V&A; Museum, with its unparalleled collections of art and design. You can be inside the vast Turbine Hall of the Tate modern within twenty minutes, and the visual feasts of town are only a short tube ride away.
